Chapter Two:
The After.
—
[THREE DAYS LATER]
Chandria fluttered her eyes open and immediately squinted them close as bright light had invaded her sight.
She tried to reach for her eyes but felt that she had not the strength to do so. Instead she opened her eyes to be familiar with the bright light and eventually saw a white ceiling.
A steady beeping sound had resonated inside the room, one that is a familiar tune and it was easy to say that she is in a hospital room.
After much trying, Chandria was able to prompt herself gently on the bed when she had tapped on a remote control. Causing the top of the bed to elevate her, being able to see an empty and quiet room.
Despite the weakness that she felt, she had managed to move both of her hands and both of her feet. Confused, she had tried her best to stand up and after a few tries, she was up on her very feet.
Did she have a very bad dream? Chandria remembered her arms being sore and the fracture of bone on her leg. She was supposed to be screaming in agony, still.
Did something else happen that she was not aware of?
She reached for the IV stand on her right then brought it along with her inside the bathroom. Chandria opened the door and switched on the lights.
The moment her eyes saw her sister in front of her, her eyes immediately widened in shock.
She was wearing a patient gown with the IV stand beside her as she was staring back at me. Her complexion was not good, she looked too pale. There was a sense of urgency inside Maxwell to hug at the sight of her sister.
“Why are-” Maxwell had opened her mouth just the same time that Chandria did. Her eyes widened and Maxwell’s eyes also widened.
Could it be?
Chandria’s hands immediately found her mouth and she released a loud gasp when Maxwell did the very same of her actions. That’s when it had hit her.
Chandria was staring at a mirror.
