59. Mason

We stand on the deck waiting for Kane to say something.

"There are no docks. It seems to be an empty island. So, we can all go and explore. Some of us are going to try and figure out where we are. So enjoy land. Lay on the grass or walk on the beach. The island isn't that big, so we're not worried about anyone getting lost. But no going in the water. If anyone sees anything man made, let us know. But it looks empty."

Dipak nods. "Animals could still be here. Use caution. Stay out of the water. This is a land stop. So enjoy the land. Run around as a wolf if you have 1. But still be cautious. There could be bears or something weird here. We don't know. Mind link Nadine if you have any issues, she'll let us know. We'll be close to the beach if you want to find us. And we'll leave the lights on in the boat, so everyone will be able to see it when it gets dark."

Kane drops the anchor. Omar grabs Gunner and we take off.

We land on the beach. "TYE, WE FOUND LAND AGAIN."

He picks me up. He spins me in a circle and I give him a kiss. "I love you babydoll."

"I love you too. They always get mad, but this is so much better than being stuck on the boat. At least we get a break."

"And it's exciting to see somewhere new."

I run behind a tree and take off the dress. Then I turn into a wolf and run into the trees.

I need this. I run all over the place. There are so many trees. I run with Johen for a while. Then I find Nikolas. He's naked picking fruit off a tree.

I turn to a human, and he lifts me up to get the apple he wants. "Thank you babygirl."

I jump up and down. "I love you."

"I love you too." He gives me a hug and a kiss. "Go run some more. Get that energy out."

Next, I sneak up on Tye. He makes a yipe noise and takes off after me.

I run so fast. Then I turn around and check. He's not even chasing me. I see a butterfly nearly as big as my head. I put my butt up and sneak up on it. Then I pounce and it takes off. I chase it for a long time. I love being a wolf. Then I see a bunny and chase after it. I'm about as good at hunting as a wolf as I am a vampire. But I like to chase things as a wolf. So I guess it's ok.

Then I realize I have no idea where I am. I walk. It's an island. I'll find the beach eventually.

I take a breath and smell something different. Then I see the butterfly. I take off after it and almost get to it when a smell I don't know hits me right on the face. I see 2 men watching me. They are not from my boat. I tilt my head at them. They are dressed in white t-shirts and tan shorts. Then they get closer.

"Are you lost?"

I shake my head and then I nod.

"Yea, she's pure white and says she's lost." The man's eyes are glazed over.

Wait, they know I'm a werewolf. How do they? I smell. That must be the scent Ronion told us about. It is strong. Are they werewolves too?

I sit down.

The men step closer and I back up.

"She won't let us get too close to her... No, she was chasing a butterfly." The man with glazed eyes laughs.

Suddenly, a big black wolf shows up. He tries to get closer to me and I try to run backwards. It doesn't work. I fall over backwards. I sit up quickly and shake myself off.

The black wolf shifts to human. I cover my eyes with my paw.

"Here."

I hear some rustling. "You can look now."

He's standing there in shorts and a t-shirt. He is really sexy and has black hair and a beard. I stare at him.

Then I see that damn butterfly. My head goes down, and my butt goes up. I can feel my tail going everywhere, but I don't care. I crawl slowly to it. Not making any noise.

"HEY."

I jump straight up, and I swear I do a flip in the air. I land on my feet by some miracle. I shake off.

They laugh. The alpha takes off his shirt and throws it at me. I stare at him. He is so sexy. He has muscles on muscles. Werewolves are sexy. I would do anything to his body. He's staring at me with his eyebrows up. The other 2 are trying not to laugh.

I snort and grab the shirt. I throw the shirt on behind a tree and step back out.

"You are very young. That explains a lot. What are you doing here?"

"I was chasing a butterfly. And a bunny."

"You're not alone, are you?"

I shake my head. "No, they said I could run. They're on the beach trying to figure out where we are. We came in to fast in our boat. We're pirates."

"Werewolf pirates?"

"I like being a pirate."

"So what are you doing now as a pirate?"

"Searching for treasure. And we're going to try to see the Mayan people. I like seeing how other civilizations live."

"What is the other scent on you?"

"Vampire?"

All their eyebrows shoot up. The alpha smiles. "You're a hybrid?"

"I don't know what that means."

"It's ok. You need to go back to your people. I imagine they are going to get concerned soon."

"I don't know. They think we're alone here."

"And that's the way I like it."

"Ronion said werewolves would make their scent heavy, so we don't run into their villages by accident."

"Did you smell the village?"

I did smell something, I guess. "Yea, I guess I did. I didn't know what it was. This is the only 1 I've ever found. But the butterfly..."

The alpha smiles. "We do have big butterflies here. I know."

I try to take off running. But it's dark and the trees are thick. "Which way did I come from?"

The alpha smirks. "We'll take you back."

I stay with them. "What's your name?"

"Alpha Mason Stein of the Crimson Moon Pack."

"I'm Princess Hypatia Nadine Sandu, rightful heir to the vampire throne. It's nice to meet you. You can call me Nadine. That whole thing is a mouthful. I barely remember it sometimes."

The other 2 laugh.

"Who are you guys?"

"We're guards."

"Was I on your land?"

"No. But it was close."

"What would you have done if I was on your land?"

"Not much for a pure white Luna. Let you move in, I guess."

"I CAN MOVE IN AND LIVE LIKE A WEREWOLF? I WANT TO DO THAT." I stop and jump up and down.

The alpha smiles. "Let's get you to your people first."

"Oh fine." I follow them again.

We get out to the beach and Tye and Johen nearly take us out. They are racing as werewolves on the beach. I jump back so I don't get tackled. Nikolas and Elek are picking fruit out of a tree. Dipak, Marcus, and Kane are walking around staring at a paper. Samson and Coral are sitting on the beach. Gunner and Alexa walk by holding hands. They don't see us. Tre is making a huge place for a fire. He's got a lot of wood stacked up.

Tobias gives me a double glance. "DIPAK."

"TYE GET OVER HERE AND GET A BATH."

"SOMEONE SEND FIRE HERE."

Thora sends a fireball at Tre's fire spot and Tye turns into a dragon and blows fire at it. It lights up and part of it goes flying up in the air. A piece of wood on fire lands by Coral. She picks it up and tosses it. "WATCH IT GUYS."

"THANK YOU."

Dipak, Marcus, Kane, Nik, and Elek are beside me.

"I got lost." Dipak nods. "This is Alpha Mason Stein of the Crimson Moon Pack. They said I can move in and live like a werewolf."

Marcus shakes his head. "We're not going to do that though."

"But I want to try the werewolf thing."

Dipak shakes his head. "No. We're not leaving you here to live."

"BUT."

Elek crosses his arms. "You won't be able to be a pirate anymore. Or go see the Mayan people either."

"But just for a little bit?"

"No."

Kane rubs his eyes. "Go help Tye avoid his bath."

I take off running across the beach.

Tre yells, "NOW WE NEED FOOD TO COOK ON THE FIRE. ANYONE SEE ANYTHING?"

Coral yells, "LET'S FISH."

Omar walks toward the group with the alpha in it. "NO ONE STEP 1 TOE IN THAT DAMN WATER. IT IS TOO DARK AND THAT IS THE OPEN OCEAN. NO GOING IN THAT. I MEAN IT."

I follow Omar over. I want to see what they are talking about.

Kane is showing them the paper, and they are talking about where we are. Boring. I run behind a tree and take the shirt off. Then I shift to my wolf and grab it. I carry it back out and give it to the alpha.

"Thank you princess."

I jump up and down and my tail goes crazy. I give it a dirty look. It moves again and I lunge for it. I jump right into Marcus.

He smacks my butt. "Go over there and chase your tail. Or better yet, go chase Tye or Johen's tail. They look bored." I look up, and they are racing as dragons.

I start barking and chasing them.

"NADINE, GET OVER HERE AND GET A BATH."

I change direction and run back to Omar. "IT'S TOO DARK NOW THORA. THEY CAN'T GO IN THE WATER."

"DON'T GIVE ME THAT. SHE IS GETTING A BATH."

Marcus pushes me. "Go get your bath done. Go on."

I sigh and go to Thora.
