Chapter 3

1401 Words
DANA fixed her long hair before entering the restaurant. Upon entering, a staff member immediately approached her and asked if she had a reservation. She said there was, she said the name that was reserve for her. "This way, Ma'am." That staff even accompanied her to the table where she had her reservation. He asked her if he wanted to order something while she was waiting for her appointment. She said it was just water, and she would order later when what she was waiting for arrived. The staff left her to get water, and not long after, he returned with what she asked for. She looked at the time on her wristwatch. She was ten minutes earlier. Dana received a call from Franco's secretary yesterday. And she said the man wanted to talk to her himself. Franco's secretary told her when and where she and Franco would meet. Dana drank water because she felt like her mouth was watering. As the time was getting closer and closer, she was getting nervous. Dana didn't know where their conversation was going. She prayed that her conversation with Franco would have a positive outcome. She also practiced what she would say when she faced him, but her mind seemed to go blank. She drank water for the second time. She noticed a figure stopping in front of her when she looked up later. And she saw the familiar face of a man. "Nice meeting you again," the man said to her. "Attorney Enriquez," she mentioned the man's name. The one in front of her was the man who introduced himself as 'Attorney Enriquez' who went to their house. "Nice meeting you too." He smiled before sitting in front of her. "Franco will not be able to come because he is busy. And he sent me here to talk to you," he informed her. She felt frustrated. It would be nice if she could talk to Franco herself so that she could say everything she wanted to say. "There is a condition given to Franco so that he won't make your parents pay for what your sister did." Dana was encouraged by what he said. If she can make the condition Franco's demands, she will have no problem. "What conditions did Franco have?” she asked. He took a long time before the man spoke. "You need to marry him," she said. Her mouth fell and her eyes widened. She didn't know if she heard right or not. "Pardon?" he asked. “You have to marry Franco. That was the condition he gave to you and your family.” Her mouth opened and closed. But later, she laughed softly. "Are you kidding?" She couldn't stop saying to him. "I'm serious, Miss Dana. And Franco is serious about the condition he gave to you.” At that moment, she stopped laughing when she noticed his serious face. Darn, he is not kidding. "W-why... does he want to marry me? He doesn't know me." She couldn't stop asking. Attorney Enriquez shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know, Miss Dana. I'm following his orders," he said. She was silent because she didn't know what to say here. "Franco give you two days to think about his condition.” He said, then placed a calling card in front of her. "Call me if you have a decision. The sooner, the better." Dana bit her lower lip. Her problem seems to be getting worse. WHEN Dana entered the restroom at the hospital where she worked, she closed the door. She walked to an empty cubicle and locked it. After she sat down in the bowl, the tears she had been holding back while she was talking to the HR Manager of the hospital where she worked immediately began to flow. The HR Manager called her earlier because she wanted to talk to her. Dana had no idea what they were going to talk about. Until the manager told her that she was fired. She asked the HR manager if she had made a mistake why she was fired, but she told her that it was an order from her superiors. She mentioned that she couldn't do anything because she followed the order. She can fight for her rights because she didn't do anything wrong to fire her from her job. It's against the law. But she doesn't want to increase her problems by fighting for her rights. Dana stopped crying upon hearing a knock on the door of her cubicle. "Dana, are you there?" It was Nadine's voice. She wiped the tears that fell from her cheeks. She also calmed herself down. After that, she came out of the cubicle, and her friend's worried face greeted her. "Is what I heard true?" She asked her. Her dismissal seems to have spread throughout the hospital. Dana nodded. "Why?" Nadine asked. "It’s our superior ordered," she answered. She noticed her slight frown. "How's that?" "There is nothing I can do if that is their decision. I will look for another job again.” She said to her friend. Dana's feelings are heavy, in truth, because she has come to love the hospital where she works. It was painful for her to leave. They stayed there for a few minutes until she decided to go home. As soon as Dana got to their house, she couldn't help feeling nervous when she saw an ambulance in front of the house. She immediately ran into the house, but before she could get inside, an ambulance staff member came out while pushing her Dad's wheelchair. And she saw her mother crying She immediately approached her mother. "What happened, Mom?" She asked. "Your Dad," her mom answered. She glanced at her father, she was thankful because she was conscious. "I will go with Dad to the hospital. Just follow there, Ma." She said that when her father was put in the ambulance, she also got in. Dana grabbed her father's hand and squeezed it. "Keep fighting, Dad. Please, don't close your eyes." She said while caressing his hand and praying that her father would be okay. DANA thanked God that her father was probably safe. Thankfully, she was quickly taken to the hospital. If something bad happens to her father, she won't be able to handle it. Dana approached her mother and was dumbfounded and silently crying. She sat next to her. "What happened, Mom?" Her Mom turned to her. "A lawyer came to the house," her mom said. "He talked to us. And he reported what your sister did to the company she worked for. And they want to take over our house as compensation for what she did." Dana couldn't stop clenching her hand. She also couldn't help but feel angry with Franco. She knew as well the one who did all that. She was also sure it had something to do with why she was fired. Because Dana refused the condition Franco gave her. She can't marry him so she refuses. Dana doesn't want to marry a man she doesn't love and a man she doesn't know. She could not marry a man three times her age, especially knowing he was in a relationship with her sister. For Dana, marriage is sacred, and she wants to be married to a man who loves and loves her. She told Attorney Enriquez of her decision when she called the calling card she gave to her. Dana still remembered the last thing Attorney Enriquez said about her decision. "If that's your decision. But prepare for the consequences of your decision.” That seems to be the consequence. Damn you, Franco. You're a heartless beast! He didn't have a heart, he didn't even consider her father’s health. Later, she looked at her mother. “T-tell me, Dana. Have I not been a good mother to you and Doreen? Haven't we been good parents. That is why Doreen did that?" she said in a cracked voice. She shook her head in tears. "No, Mom. You are the best parents in the world. It's just that we don't hold Doreen's thoughts," she said. "So don't think about that." Her mother cried even more. She bit her lower lip while hugging her mother. "What are we going to do, Dana?" Dana closed her eyes. It seems she has no choice. It looks like she has to take back her first decision.
