CHAPTER 4

~*~ My phone rings when I get out of the house. It was Zed who was calling me, so I answered his call immediately. "I'm going to the meeting place now," I said as I answered the call. "Move it to video; we want to see your face." "OK, OK." I pressed the video call button, and his face appeared. Well, he is not alone. He is with Gab and Tobi. "Hey, hey, man. What are you wearing? Let us see!" Gab said enthusiastically, and I stretched my hand, which was holding a phone, so they could see what I was wearing at the time. I'm dressed in a crumpled plain white polo shirt with a little rust on the net collar, baggy pants, and worn-out shoes. I also didn't apply my morning skincare routine to look fresh and awake. "How do I look?" I asked them after I showed them my looks. "Way to go, dude! You totally look unattractive right now. I can see her leaving the moment she sees you." Zed gives me a thumbs-up. "Really? I can't wait to see her then." I smirked. "And if she doesn't leave right away, remember to follow the advice I gave you," added Tobi, reminding me. "Yeah, yeah. I'm now going to finish it right away." "Ok, ok, ok. Good luck, dude! We're cheering you from here!" "Tss. Thanks. Bye." I ended the call. Putting my phone inside the pocket of my pants, I walked towards my car. Yes, I can finally say that it's mine. I have been waiting for this! Before I got inside, I rearranged my pants. It’s too loose for me, so I have to make sure it doesn’t fall off. Tch. This is uncomfortable, but I need to endure it. Opening the door of my car, I saw an ID on the driver's seat. I took it and sat down on the seat. This is my driver's license. Wow! I can now call myself an adult, indeed. I put my license in my wallet. I fastened my seatbelt, started the engine, and drove my car away. --- After a few minutes, I arrived at the place where we would meet. I parked my car in front of the building. Before I got out of my car, I first looked at my face in the rearview mirror. I messed up my hair. "Let's see if you don't walk out when you see me," I said to myself, smirking. I walked out of my car and walked towards the entrance door of the building. "Good morning, sir." The guard greeted me as soon as I entered the building. "Good morning," I replied, then proceeded to the information desk and asked the staff where the reservation table for the special date today was, and one of the staff members guided me to the table. A special date, my ass. Tch! "Thanks," I told the lady. "You're welcome, sir. The food will be served for a few minutes." "Sure. Thank you," I replied, and she excused herself. It looks like Daddy has really prepared for this day. Tch! But, Dad, I'm sorry, I can do anything you want except this. I looked at my wristwatch and saw that it was already 9:45 a.m. Fifteen minutes to go before the due date. She must be on her way. I can’t wait for this day to end. I took the glass of water and drank a little. Tch. What took her so long? Five minutes had passed already. Does he have a plan to be late? Okay. Let us wait for a little bit, Jake, because girls are always like that. I took another sip of water. All of a sudden, someone sat down on the chair across from me. When I looked up at the person on the seat in front of me, I saw a handsome man in a midnight blue tuxedo staring at me and smiling. Did I just say he's handsome? Geez. I'm more handsome than him. But, in any case, who the hell is this? I placed the glass of water on the table. "Excuse me? I think you're at the wrong table," I told him. "No, I am at the right table," he said. His tone is so classy and calm. He appeared to come from a well-to-do and wealthy family. So what? I came from a wealthy and classy family as well. Tss. A little laugh escaped my mouth. "I'm sorry, sir, but this table is reserved for me, so I believe you are at the wrong table," I said, trying to be polite since he seemed older than me. The corner of his mouth lifts in a sarcastic smile. "Ah, you must be Jake Darrell Velez." My forehead creased when he mentioned my name. How did he know me? Who is this guy? "How do you know who I am? Who are you?" I asked, bewildered. "I'm Lukeweynn. Lukeweynn Ferrer. I'm your today's date." "What!?" My voice rose slightly in surprise at what he said. This punk... What the hell is he talking about !? Date, my ass! "Are you joking with me?" I scoffed. "Date... You must be gone crazy, tch!" Shaking my head, I stood up and was about to walk away when he spoke. "Harrison Velez." I looked at him, my brows snapped together. Did he just mention my father's name? "How do you know my father?" I asked him. Who is this guy, really? He lifted his head and looked at me. "He told you to come here to date someone, didn't he? Me too. I'm here to date someone, and that's you." I let out a sarcastic laugh at what he said. I think this man is going crazy. Doesn't he see that the one he's talking to is a man? And what did he think of himself, a girl? Huh! Ah! Or maybe the woman I'm going to date sent him here to dump me? Unbelievable. She actually even called back up to dump me, huh? Tss. What did she think? Would I like her too? Tss. Thanks to her, she did it, and I had no more problems. "Hey, Sir... Mister... whatever they call you. Tell that woman, or maybe you two are friends. Tell your friend that I'm grateful for what she did. Actually, I was really planning to make her dump me because, like her, I don't want to get married. No, I don’t want to marry her." I said, emphasizing the word "married." Shaking my head, I was about to walk away again, but he spoke. "What are you saying?" I scoffed, raising my eyebrows at him. Is he kidding me? Or perhaps, he pretends to know nothing? "Didn't that woman send you here to dump me?" He laughed a little, but I could see his shoulders move with that laugh. "You know what? I am not in a good mood today, but thanks to your joke." What? Joke? Huh! Does he think I am joking? I tried to speak, but he didn't give me a chance. "I'm sorry, but your accusations against me are not true. I know it's hard to believe, but, I'm really the one you're going to date here." He said. There was no sign of lying on his face. What!? No way! I mean... he's the one I'm going to marry? What the? “This can't be! I'm a man!” "Right, you are a man. And I am also a man. But we need to marry each other." ---
