Lucifer groaned when he heard the loud chewing sound early in the morning. He opened his eyes and his heart almost jumped out of his chest when he saw Cinnamon eating a human bone.
- Cinnamon! Yuck! Spit it out! - he said jumping up from his armchair. If the dog ate Belyar I'm deadbeat! He though and hissed when something heavy landed on his toes. He leaned down to pick it up. Lucifer looked at the Antique book in almost perfect conditions. It had a red ribbon over it. Belyar and Satan woke up to the loud noises and Belyar noticed Lucifer staring at the book. He smiled and said.
- Merry Christmas, My Lord. - Lucifer looked at him and sighed with relief.
- Belyar you are in one piece! Huh... I thought the doggie decided to feast on you. I almost died in fear! - he said and Satan grimaced at him.
- My Lord... How could you die? - Lucifer shivered.
- Believe me, if Belyar ended up as Cinnamon's breakfast my break would have been fast as well! - Belyar laughed and noticed the cookies and chocolate.
- My Lady was here. - he handed one portion to Satan and he looked as confused as Lucifer.
- Have you never received anything for Christmas? - he asked and both the Lord and his servant looked a little moved by the gesture. Belyar smiled and thought about how the world would be so much better if someone like Valerie ruled it.
- What have you got My Lord? - Satan asked and Lucifer looked at the book. A gentle smile appeared on his face, for both Belyar and Satan's surprise.
- I got a Shakespeare book. - he said softly.
- Oh My Lord! You love that author! - Satan said and Belyar asked curiously.
- Which one? - Lucifer looked at them and showed the book.
- All's Well That Ends Well. - he said, then looked a little troubled at Belyar.
- We fall asleep and she was alone last night. What should I gift her to make it up to this? - Lucifer looked really concerned and showed a side of himself to the other two that, probably only his parents saw when he was still a child.
- My Lord, I have a great idea. - Belyar said and Lucifer looked at him expectantly.
Valerie woke up and stretched in her bed. She took a deep breath with her eyes still closed and rubbed the sleepiness out of them. She got up and walked to her bathroom, after washing her face and combing her hair she walked to the kitchen to make a tea. Belyar is probably still sleeping. - she thought with a smile. Valerie walked past the kitchen window and halted. She took a step back and couldn't believe her eyes. The thought of the tea disappeared and she rushed back to her bedroom. Got into warm clothes she put on leather gloves and ran out of the house as an excited child. The big snowflakes fall down peacefully and piled up into big humps of snow. Valerie ran to the clearing next to her home and with a huge smile she leaned into the snow. With her arms and legs she made a snow angel and kept laying in the snow looking up at the sky of Hell.
- It doesn't feel like Hell at all. - she then remembered, that if it's snowing in hell, the nearby lake is probably frozen too. She rushed there and jumped squeaking from happiness when she saw the thick layer of ice on the surface of the lake. With her powers she made a pair of ice skates on her shoes and she slid onto the ice elegantly. The demons that walked nearby looked at her and shook their heads.
- Look at that crazy chick! She is enjoying this! - one of them said and the other between his clicking teeth mumbled.
- I hope this is a one time thing! Who ever heard of hell freezing over? - they walked away and from between the clouds Lucifer looked down. He had Satan helping Belyar to keep up in the sky with them. He smiled at the sight of the cursing Demons in contrast with the cheerful Valerie who enjoyed every moment of the gift.
- This was a fantastic idea Belyar. - Lucifer said and smiled at Belyar.
- Thank you! - he thanked and Satan whispered into Belyar's ear.
- I've never seen the Lord smile. What is going on? - Belyar looked at him and said.
- He still doesn't know, but today, the King of Hell created a little piece of Heaven for his angel. - Lucifer didn't even notice them talking, he kept watching Valerie taking rounds and rounds around the lake.
- She would be thrilled if she knew that you made this for her My Lord. - Satan said and Lucifer crossed lazily his arms across his chest. The light winter breeze bloew gently his blood red scarf.
- I don't want to ruin it for her, let's keep this as a Christmas Miracle for Valerie. - Satan's jaw dropped. The King of Hell, Prince of Pride, throws away his pride for someone else's happiness? I don't want to be alive if anything happens to this strange little creature.
- Let's join her My Lord. - Belyar said and Lucifer nodded. They descended and stopped at the shore of the lake. Valerie noticed them and slid gracefully to them.
- It is snowing Belyar! It's a real Christmas Miracle! - she said. Her cheeks were already red from the cold and smiling. Lucifer swallowed hardly at the beauty that revealed in front of his eyes. A few snowflakes stopped at Valerie's eyelashes and hair making her look like she was adorned with diamonds. She wore a long beige coat, black skinny pants and brown boots. He walked to her and took off his big, red scarf. Lucifer, without bothering the curious glances he received from the demons passing by, wrapped his scarf around Valerie's neck and said softly.
- Thank you for the gift. - Valerie smiled childishly.
- What gift? It was Santa Clause! - Lucifer tilted his head like a confused puppy and Valerie chuckled at the sight of him.
- Come on! Who knows how long we can enjoy the snow! - she said grabbing casually Lucifer's hand and pulling him onto the ice.
- What is happening? - Satan asked and Belyar with a fatherly smile said.
- This, my friend, this is what freedom and pure happiness looks like. - Satan's eyes widened and he mumbled.
- It is so peaceful. - Belyar sighed looking at the stumbling Lucifer.
- It is indeed.
