"Boss!" Luther looked down, hands clenching tightly on his sides, enough to break a peeble on his palms. "Boss Chen, I can listen to you with anything. I won't say something whatever you ask me. But he… he has to leave you. I don't have a better impression of this man since he dared to be rude towards you. He has to stay away from you. Otherwise, I can't promise if I can't control myself and I might kill him. I mean it." Chen Lei nodded. A bitter smile appeared on his lips as he was endurng the pain on his shoulders. His handsome face was slightly contorting and his forehead was covered with beads of sweat. It was obvious that his wound was torturing him but he remained calm. He spoke softly. "I can't control you anymore, right? Then I just have to ask you to leave me." "Boss? Are you chasing me just because of that unknown man?" Luther's eyes rounded in disbelief. His heart was beating painfully. "I can't believe you! I have been following you for all these years. I have been doing my job well just to stay by your side. How can you just throw me away just because you had met him? What is it about him that made you care about him so much? You even risked your life for him. You saved him but you ignored our efforts to protect you just for this unknown person. It's not like you. No. This is not you." "Enough!" Arthur interrupted him, looking at him with an unpleasant stare. "Your boss just wants to tell you that you will kill him if you keep stopping us from sending him to the hospital. His wound might not be serious for now but he will die anytime because of blood loss. Do you want that to happen?" "Of course not!" "Then enough throwing tantrum here!" Arthur shouted at him. He took a deep breathe, worry was written all over his face. "He is the one who is injured here not you. It's his choice to save him not you. Are you questioning the decision of your boss? Luther, you have no right to decide for his life. Yes. You should not to get mad at Xander. Because this all happens because of me. If you want to blame or kill someone, it ist be me. Because I let him come out from the car." "That's nonsense!” Luther shouted. "It's all this man's fault." "Why are you so stubborn?" Xander bytt in. "If you want him to die, then, alright. Feel free to stop us from sending him to the hospital." "You shut up! Did I tell you to speak here?" Luther glared at Xander. His eyes were bloodshot. Veins protruding on his temples. "Don't jinx my boss. It'so u who should die." Arthur shook his head hopelessly. "Luther, you have wasted too much time with your crap. Do you want to get in or not?" "I want of course." "Then get in if you want to send the boss. Go away if you don't want to go with Xander." Arthur said and started the engine. "Stop wasting my time anymore. Otherwise, everyone will hate you." Arthur started to drive away whether Luther get on or not. Hesitant, Luther hopped inside before Arthur could drive away. Right after he sat down, he looked over and threw a murderous gaze at Xander. "You better be careful. When everything is done and the boss is still in danger, I'll come to you and kill you. I will cut you into pievces. Just pray that nothing would go wrong on him." Xander snorted as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Don't worry. You won't be able to get that chance." "Hmmp!" Luther turned ahead, ignoring him. Chen Lei giggled softly. "What are you laughing at?" Xander asked as he heard him giggling. "Is this fun? It seems like you are fine. I should just stay behind." "You can't." Chen Lei grabbed his hand and held it tightly. He then acted in pain. "Don't leave me. I am in pain. It's so painful. I think I am about to die. Please allow me to see you until my last breath, can't you." "Hmmp! Who are you deceiving here? Do you think I don't know the condition of your wound? President Chen, I am not a kid. Hands off!" Xander retracted his hand and looked outside the window. … In the hospital. Outside the operating room, everybody waited for the doctor to come out. There were more than ten people standing outside the door, and of them was Xander. Xander stood in a corner, a bit far from everybody. He leaned his back against the wall with his hands behind his waist. He was right outside but there were no emotions in his eyes. He was neither angry nor happy. He just stood there in silence like a statue. Except for Xander, everybody was looking so worried while guarding the important person outside the operating room. They were known as people used with force and ruthlessness, but at the moment, their faces were filled with worry and fear as if what they were facing was the tragic end of the world. What happened to Chen Le was a big blow to Luther. He couldn't help but blame himself for his incapability. If he was a bit stronger and a bit talented, he did not need someone to hold him during a crisis. If not because of him, his boss would not risk his life to save Xander who was also trying to save him. "It's my fault. It's my fault." Luther mumbled repeatedly as he knocked his forehead on the wall. He was a man but he did not care if people and passers-by were staring at him indifferently because he cried. "If not because of me, my boss would be fine right now. It's all my fault." "Enough Luther." Mike pulled him away to the wall. "Will hurting yourself change everything? It's already happened. You can't change the past even if you kill yourself. Calm down, okay? You are the chief of the dark guards of Chen Family, how could you break down right now? Calm down, okay? No one is blaming you. You have no control of the situation." "This all happens because I'm incapable." Luther shook off him and scooped down on the floor, scratching his head. "I don't deserve to be the boss 's trusted guard. I don't deserve to work for him. I can't even protect myself." Arthur, who was just standing silently next to him, patted his back, sighing audibly. "Luther, pull yourself together. This incident is not your fault. It's actually my fault… Mike is right. You should not blame yourself for this. Besides, we are not blaming you. Your boss is also not blaming you. What he wanted is just for you to calm down and don't often pull a fight with Xander." "Xander! Xander! Xander! Who is that man exactly for the boss?" Luther shouted loudly as he ran his ferocious glare at Xander. Xander only shrugged his shoulders and gave the man a 'who cares face' when he met the eyes of Luther, totally unbothered."Look at him. He isn't even worried about the boss. I really don't understand. Why is the boss so concerned about him?" "Don't ask. Also, stop asking your boss about his personal affairs. It's something you should not cross. It's not also your job to mind his private matter." Arthur said softly which only Luther and Mike could hear. "Just remember this. That Xander is someone you should not offend. Offending him is also offending your boss. That person is very important to your boss. Do you understand me?" "I don't understand! I really don't understand! I don't want to understand! Who is that man exactly?" "Enough. The doctor is coming out." Arthur and others immediately greeted the doctor. "How is he a doctor? Is he fine? Is his wound serious?" The doctor smiled. "Please calm down everyone. The patient is doing fine. Good thing you sent him on time and he avoided losing too much blood. He is now resting in his room." "Great. Great. Great." Happiness overtook everyone's eyes. As if they just received a very important news. That was right indeed. Chen Lei was the most important person to them. Most important with their lives. If they lost him, it was equivalent to losing their own lives as well as their family lives that needed their financial support. They valued the man so much. Because, though he was cold, ruthless, and bossy, the salary he gave to them was high. "Can we visit him right now?" Arthur asked. "You can, but maybe later." The doctor answered with a humble smile. "Why?" "Because the patient is expecting someone to visit him over first." "Who?" Luther asked. Everyone frowned, also confused. The doctor roamed around his eyes. When his eyes landed on Xander, he smiled and said, "I found him. It should be him." Everybody followed the doctor's line of sight and they were surprised to see that the doctor was actually looking at Xander. That only meant that their boss was looking for Xander. They were not saying anything but the words were written all over their faces. "Why him? Who is he?" Among the people, only Arthur was not surprised that Chen Lei would look for Xander when the treatment was done. After all, though he would not admit it himself, Arthur could tell that the boss was still madly in love with her. "Why him?" Luther pointed at Xander with a big frown on his face. He was unable to stop himself from voicing out his heart. "Why not us? Why not Arthur or me?" The doctor only smiled at Arthur and then looked at Xander. Xander met the doctor's eyes but he did not speak. His expression was coldly telling him, 'What is it?' "If I am not wrong, you are Xander right?" The doctor asked. "Yes. It's me." Xander coldly replied. "What about it? Do you need something from me?" "It's not me. It's the patient. He is looking for you. Please visit him." "What does he want?" Xander asked lazily. "There's plenty of people here, why look for me if he needs something? I don't have special connections with that man." "How dare you say that in front of us?" Luther attempted to dash on Xander but Mike and Arthur grabbed him back instantly. "Luther, behave." Arthur said. The doctor smiled as he shook his head, not minding at the inside conflict of everyone. "You are exactly the same as the person he described. No less, No exaggeration. So lovely. It looks like you mean a lot to him." "Doctor, you should not believe everything that man say." Xander said. "I believe on my judgement." "Fine. What did that man tell you about me?" The doctor laughed once more. "If you are curious to know, please see him right away. He is waiting for you inside." Xander moved. Without further talking, he entered the room and sauntered towards the clean and private luxurious room that was just next door to the operating room. Actually not next door. That extravagant room's door was just connected to the room where the man was given the treatment. Xander's steps were light but not in a hurry. He was as if only there to have a leisure walk, not to visit a patient who was requesting for his presence. While making his way in the room, a complex of emotions surged up in his heart. In fact, he didn't know if he really wanted to visit him or he was just curious about what he told the doctor. His mind was floating with countless baseless thoughts. Xander shook his head and persuaded himself. "Geneva, enough thinking. You are not here because of other reasons. You are just going to see him because he saved you. You are just going to see him because you wanted to deliver your gratitude to him. You are just going to see him because he is injured because of you. Nothing else." "Ouch! f**k! What the hell!" Xander groaned as he rubbed his nose that was accidentally knocked on something hard but not actually hard. When he took a close look ahead of him, he found that the man he did wish to see was actually standing right in front of him, smiling as if nothing just happened. "What the hell are you doing?" "I should be the one who asks you that." Chen Lei smiled mysteriously. "You are walking without watching where you are going. Why are you spacing out? What is in your head? Could it be that you are thinking of me? What did you think about me?" "Nonsense!" Xander denied right away. His eyes passed through the man's sides and saw that he had ended up walking in the wrong direction. If Chen Lei did not block him, instead of bumping on his chest, his nose would have bumped against the wall. Then it would be more terrible. "So embarrassing." Xander whispered softly. Xander closed his eyes, annoyed with himself. When he opened his eyes, he returned to his cold and confident self. "Do you think I am here because I wanted to see you? If you did not ask the doctor to call me over, I won't ever step in this room. What do you want to see me for? Tell me right away so I can leave this hell." "Nothing much. I just want you to stay with me. Itnot illegal right?" Chen Lei smiled. "Come, send me back on my bed." Chen Lei extended his other arm to Xander, wanting him to hold his arm and assisted him back on his bed. Xander crossed his arms over his chest, and frowned. "It's your arm which is injured, not your legs. If you want to lie back on your bed, walk by yourself. Don't trouble me. I did not come here to be your personal caregiver." Xander ignored the man and walked inside the room before him. Chen Lei shook his head and followed Xander inside his room. Chen Lei sat on the edge of his table while Xander sat on the stool available inside, crossed legs and his expression was as cold as ice in the north pole and stern as the stone. "Speak. What do you want to see me for? I'm a busy person. Don't waste my time." Xander said shortly after the man sat down. "Can you say something nice just once? Why are you in a hurry to leave? I am shot with bullets. I am not admitted to this hospital because of some virus. You don't have to avoid me like that." "You are the virus." Xander interjected. "You alone is enough to make me stay away from you. In fact, you are scarier than the virus." "So that is how I am I look like in your eyes?" Chen Lei's jaws moved but he did not show on his face that he was affected and felt hurt by Xander' cruel words. He chuckled softly. "Now I know. Interesting. Very interesting." "Speak. Cut the chase. What do you need me for?" Chen took a deep breath, sighing. "Nothing much. Just like what I said just now, I just want you to stay with me and appease my boredom. I'm bored in this room. And it disappears if you are here." Xander raised a brow. "What do you think I am?" Xander went on his feet. "Since there's nothing much. I will take my leave. You stay here and get your recovery. Oh by the way, thanks for taking the bullet for me. If this happens next time, I don't need you to do that… I am not fragile." Chen Lei remained quiet for a few seconds. He showed no intention of stopping her. Thus Xander thought that his words made him understand. However, when reached the door, he heard say, "You know them, right?"
