I leaned forward in my chair and steepled my fingers with my elbows on the desk. Izzy sat on the other side of the desk and stared back at me with a patient expression.
I didn't like having women in my office where they could do anything they wanted, but this was a necessary evil.
“You're going to follow Kate around and keep her out of trouble," I said.
Izzy's eyes widened. “What if I fail?"
“I expect you probably will, but I need you to try your best."
Izzy was a capable vampire, I could admit that, but Kate was a mischievous little terror that I doubted anyone could get a handle on.
“Try to be discrete if you can."
Izzy nodded and I jerked my head towards the door. She stood and left my office.
