“I heard about your handsome cowboy,” Teresa says as she sits beside me. “You alright if I join you today?”
I nod. “Amy told you?”
She smiles. “She did, but you’ve been sad. What’s going on?”
I sigh. It’s been a couple of days, and things with Lucy are still uncomfortable. “My roommate doesn’t like him. Well, she doesn’t even know him. She said some things that she shouldn’t have to him.”
“He upset about it?” she asks, pulling out her notebook as Jaynie enters the room.
“No,” I say softly. “That’s the thing; he’s fine with just avoiding her.”
She tilts her head. “What’s got you down?”
“Good morning, everyone,” Jaynie says brightly.
“Come over for dinner tonight and tell me all about it,” she whispers, squeezing my hand before turning to her notebook.
