Amethyst POV
I always promised myself I wouldn't fall under the spell of Morpheus Mitchell. The golden boy of East Wood High School since freshman year, high above my social ranking, barely acknowledges my existence much less my presence. He had everyone falling at his feet. He was adored by the entire student and staff body. He was the king.
He always had one of the hottest girls in school clinging to his arm, he chilled with the popular kids and he was captain of the football team, so it made me wonder, why he was all of a sudden so interested in me. He probably didn't even know existed until I smiled at him on his birthday. I would have kept my head down, it’s what I usually do but something made me smile
I was the girl who sits in front of the class and still isn't noticed, the smartest girl in school. In other words, like I said before, nothing close to his social status but yet still he asks me out on a date. Yet still he’s sitting with me and texting me, wanting to get to know me more, making me feel like this bubbly feeling in my chest and these butterflies in my stomach.
I had a lot of doubts about this. Maybe he was playing with my emotions? Maybe this was all some kind of cruel dare, but despite all these doubts I was still sat in the front seat of his car, with my legs crossed over one another, a huge smile on my face as he told me about his family.
I'm the shy girl that barely speaks unless she's spoken to, and all of a sudden I can just talk to the most popular guy in school as if we've known each other for years? All of a sudden I get this sudden urge to kiss him until we both are gasping for air? All of a sudden I'm giving him cheek kisses?
As a person who doesn't usually like physical contact in any way with people I haven’t know for very long, him touching me doesn't seem to be a problem. Holding my hand or playing with my hair. He always seemed to have this need for some form of contact with me and every single time this weird wave of pure satisfaction glides through my body.
I'm beginning to sound like every girl in school. Totally swooning over Morpheus Mitchell.
"My mom and dad are happily married. It’s been that way since they were both twenty one" he said with pride and I hummed his voice was gentle and soothing as if he didn't want to scare me.
"You look beautiful" he said for the fifth time in three minutes and I sighed, humming again.
How is someone supposed to even respond to a compliment?
"Thank you for the fifth time" I giggled and he blushed.
My mom chose my outfit only because I have zero sense of style and this is my first date. The first time I've ever been asked out, the first time someone besides my mom and best friends has called me beautiful. He kept reminding me like he never wanted me to forget.
It made me cringe. It was cute and annoying all at the same time.
"How are you enjoying the date so far?" He reached over the console, taking my hand in his and like instinct I rubbed my thumbs over his knuckles visibly seeing him relax as I did so.
We had been to all the beautiful places in the small town. The Botanical Gardens and the newly opened art gallery that I've been dying to go to, and the town’s edge, all this was only for the morning time. We had gone to Gina's, the best dinner in town, and ate breakfast. Well more like I watched Morpheus eat while pulling funny faces and me almost choking to death several times.
He had given me a gift bag when I first got in the car it had a sketch pad and pencils.
"I want you to sketch everything you see that's beautiful today, everything that makes you feel happy" is what he’d told me; apparently that was my mission for the day.
"I love it" I turned away from my current sketch, resting my pencil down while sending him a toothy grin, scrunching up my face in the process and he sighed in relief.
"But it isn't over yet right?" I questioned and he nodded.
"Nope"
We had long left town and was now going towards the city or so I thought. We took an unfamiliar turn down a dirt road and I shot him a look.
"It's a surprise" he glanced at me and I smiled.
I'm doing that a lot aren't I?
Who would've thought that the quiet outcast girl would be on a date with social butterfly white boy?
Figures.
The car came to a halt and I looked up to see we were in the middle of nowhere.
"Do you plan on killing me and leaving my body here or...?" I joked, but deep down I was actually very scared that he was actually trying to kill me. Was this all part of the plan? He laughed in response shaking his head.
"No it’s a surprise remember" he got out of the car the same time I did.
He walked over to my side with the bags in hand locking the door behind him. He wrapped his arm around my waist, hitching both bags up on his shoulder before pulling me closer and kissing me temple. He led me to a dense clump of vines, pushing them away to reveal a path.
"Come on Jewel I would never put you in danger" he pulled me onto the path and I watched the vines hide the pathway to wherever we were going.
Well he can kill me now. r**e me. Chop me up into little Amethyst pieces, just make sure to tell my mom that I love her and tell Alexis that I want Ignition by R.Kelly played at my funeral and she better not cry, because I’ll haunt her.
"Tada" I heard him say and I covered my mouth in shock at the place in front of me.
In front of me was a creek. The water was a sky blue hue but then again you could see straight through to the bottom. The backdrop was a beautiful waterfall and you could see little fishes swimming in the pool.
“My parents used to bring me here when I was little. It’s a really special place to me, kind of like how special you are to me”
"Wow its gorgeous Morpheus this really is a surprise" I was at a loss for words right now, this was one of the most beautiful things I’d ever seen and the meaning it all had behind it made it so much more magnificent.
I brought him into a hug and he sighed in content.
"I need to change into my bathing suit though" I hinted that he needed to take a little walk but he just stood there with an expecting look on his face.
"Well go ahead" I thumped behind the head and he winced.
"Take a hike, you little nasty. Go count to two hundred so I can change" he folded his arms across his chest and so did I.
"What's the magic word?" he asked me like a little child and I rolled my eyes.
"Now!" I pointed at the path and he huffed going in that direction while muttering numbers.
I shook my head. Childish ass.
I went behind a tree checking to see if the coast was clear before zipping down my romper. I neatly placed my clothes in my bag sliding on my swimsuit. I zipped the bag, stepping out from behind the tree to see Morpheus standing shirtless in his swim trunks waiting for me.
His eight back was on full display. There were a few scars on his chest and back but it really didn’t matter to me. His plain black swim trunks matched my plain black two piece suit and I giggled at the coincidence. I was so busy ogling him that I didn’t realise how close he was to me. He scoped me up, throwing me over his shoulder making me drop my bag.
“Morpheus don’t! If you do this we’ll fight! I swear you better no-“
I never got to finish my sentence before he jumped over the edge, emerging the both of us under the water.
"You b***h!" was the first thing I shouted at him as I resurfaced.
My hair stuck to my face and I heard him chuckle before I felt fingers brush against my face moving it away. I splashed him totally ruining the moment and he wiped his face with a mischievous glint in his eye.
"Morpheus no!" I tried to move away but he just started splashing me uncontrollably. I got a few splashes in but he won of course, because his arms were way bigger than mine by far.
I laughed, throwing my head back and staring up at the sky only to see that it was night time. The moonlight gave the water a weird glowing effect and I spun around throwing water into the air and making small splashes around myself,
No one has even done something like this for me, brought me to a place I've never seen before, that's just so breath taking. I heard a click and I turned around to see Morpheus taking pictures of me.
I pouted, blocking my face but I didn’t miss his smug look.
"I got some nice ones so that doesn’t really matter" you could hear the satisfaction in his voice and I moved my hands from my face just in time to see him stick out his tongue at me.
It's like he brings out a whole different side of himself when he's with me.
We joked around for a while after that in the water and on the shore. I had enough light so that I could sketch out the scenery but as it got later I sighed, every good thing must come to an end. I climbed out of the water, squeezing out my wet hair and running my fingers through it before bending over to retrieve my bag when I heard a loud growl.
I whipped around looking for the source only to see nothing but trees. You could hear little woodland creatures in the forest. Owls, crickets, the sounds of frogs croaking but there wasn’t any rustling in the bushes so it couldn’t possibly be a wolf.
Weird. I shrugged it off, going behind a tree to change my clothes. I came out a few minutes later to see Morph, changed and wearing sunglasses. He’d disappeared about ten minutes ago
"Rocking the Men in Black sunglasses at night I see" It was more of a question than a statement but he nodded anyways.
"You ready to go?" His voice was barely above whisper but somehow I heard, because I'm afraid of the dark I grabbed his hand, entwining our fingers since I didn’t want to walk all alone in front him. I didn’t miss how it made him tense up but I paid it no mind. We followed the path back and I pushed the vines out of the way, to see the black Mercedes parked where we left it.
Did I expect it to move on its own?
I turned to Morph expecting him to unlock the car but instead he grabbed my waist, pulling me towards him while caressing my cheek. He's always so warm like a portable blanket but the way I was flush against him, the head made me let out shallow breathes.
"Jump" it was a demand. His voice was dropped an octave, it made me shiver but I did as told, wrapping my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck I hid my head in his shoulder.
I'm probably so heavy, but he carried me with little to no effort to the hood of the car, setting me down and settling between my legs. One arm was on my right side the other his fingers traced my face.
My arms stayed glued together on my lap. I jabbed my thumb nail into the veins of my wrist, something I did when I was nervous, avoiding eye contact at all cost.
"Princess, look at me" he gripped my chin gently, tilting my head up for me to see the dreamy smile on his face. I ran my finger along his jaw line as he kissed my forehead, sending that familiar but at the same time unfamiliar wave through my body.
I slipped off his sunglasses but I could barely see his eyes. The only source of light we had was the dim moonlight, so I couldn’t see it clearly but I could’ve sworn they were pitch black.
"Can I kiss you?" He traced my lips slowly with his thumb. I was in some kind of trance, my body was covered in sparks and my mind was shattered. All I could focus on was how close he was and his body heat that was radiating off me. How he gripped my waist and pulled me further down the hood so there was absolutely no space between us.
“Kiss me Morpheus” I breathed out, my eyes lingering from on his lips.
He leaned down and I met him halfway. He brushed his lips against mine as if asking for permission again and I pressed my lips fully to his. They were soft, so very soft and a low rumble left his throat as I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling at the roots of his hair. He bit my bottom lip asking for entrance and I obliged parting my lips. I pulled him closer if that was ever possible deepening the kiss but humans have to breath unfortunately so I pulled away, biting his bottom lip in the process.
“Fuck...” he muttered both us trying to catch our breaths. I ran my fingers against my swollen lips. Did that just happen? My eyes didn’t peel open until I had caught myself fully. That just happened.
My first kiss.
