Chapter.16*Behind The Wall*

As Luke noticed I have gathered attention to us, he couldn’t help but to growl angrily, "shut your ugly face---," he muttered, but luckily my plan had worked. George marched our way and stood in front of us. "I'm so sorry Prince Luke, but I did every chore I was assigned to do." I faked some tears, I couldn’t let him do whatever he planned to do to me for his nasty, ugly desires. "Luke, why are you not in your room?" George, who had been giving me some kind of eyes, muttered at him. We girls might be ignorant at times, but we know the intention behind eyes that looks at us. It wasn’t hard for me to see the lust in both of their eyes. "I was about to but then this worker bumped into me," he muttered, making me watch his face with my mouth hanging open. I then softly batted my eyelashes at Lord George, I knew it wasn't a good idea, but that was the problem I could deal with later. "So?" after watching my face for a few seconds, George grunted at Luke. George had been scanning me since day 1, I knew his intentions, everyone's intentions except for Prince Warrick, who was pretty much still a mystery wrapped up in an enigma. "So I thought--," Luke ceased talking and lowered his head when Lord George cleared his throat to make him stop talking. George was not someone you would want to mess with, well, that made Luke silently nod to himself and then pull himself away from me. He walked back to his room right in front of my eyes. "Everybody has eyes on you and I can't blame them." he turned his voice husky once we were left alone. His old hand gently rubbed against my shoulder, not giving me chills of pleasure but a feeling of disgust. I shuddered under my skin, but made it visible that I wasn’t offending him. I didn't fight back because I knew it was Madame Noela's arrival time, so, no way he would jeopardize his position by dragging me into his room at this crucial time. I stayed silent until George hurriedly removed his hand off my shoulder and greeted Madame Noela, who stared at my face very keenly before kissing her dear husband on the cheek. "Why are you still here?" She growled my way, her eyes seeking answers. Of course, she was very well aware of her husband's habits. "I was just leaving." I acted obediently, purposely making George admire my loyalty to him. "Go now." She ordered and turned her back to me. I could see Lord George watching me from the corner of his eyes. By giving one nod, I left their sight in haste. As I walked down the corridor to the out, I remembered Kanika's words about how lucky I have been for always getting out of trouble. I recalled she once told me that every time I'm in a mess, there is someone who helps me out. And she wasn’t wrong, lately, I have begun to notice it myself. "Shanice." My mother called me out from behind and briskly walked towards me to match pace with me. "Where were you?" She matched her steps with mine and said under her mouth, running out of breath. "Nothing finished my work just now. Is Kelly gone?" I asked while walking along with my mother to my village which as at a few minutes of walk from the mansion. "Yes, she will be in the hut by now." Mother replied, her eyes on the track. "You know she was acting really crazy last night, she---" I was in the middle of the sentence that my Mother intervened very abruptly, not letting me finish my sentence. "You don't worry about her," she knew something was going on but apparently they all were dedicated so much for this s*****y that they wouldn't care about their self-esteem. "But---" I ceased myself this time, there was no point in arguing with them as they were forced by the fears to remain silent and not question anything. I followed my mother, but my steps automatically showered down as I passed the same ground where I had heard Williams last night. "Don't slow down, we are already late." Mother scolded, this was our life every day. We had no time for ourselves. We had to sleep early so that we wake up early and fresh. I kept following her like a dumb puppet until we reached our hut. I followed the routine and soon the night was passed. The next day started pretty calmly. I had managed to ignore troubles for a little while. "Clean this as well." Princess Flora was telling me how to do my job while I was following her orders. Her room was like a mini royal castle, I had to be very careful around her sumptuous stuff. "It's done." I voiced, holding my neck down. "Okay, you may go now." She stated and stood straight in her beautiful pink gown. "Wait!" She added, nervously playing with her fingers and batting her eyelashes constantly. "How is--how is your friend Kanika?" Her voice stuttered many times during that simple question. I didn't lift my face, but I knew she was looking behind me at the door to make sure no one heard her. "She is working." I didn't know what she meant by how is she, so I replied the first thing that came into my mind. "I know she is, I mean, there was an unfortunate incident that left Luke to abuse her," she mumbled everything ghastly. "Yeah, she is recovering, her wounds are healing." I knew my tongue wasn't going to stay behind my teeth for too long, so I sputtered whatever she wanted to hear. "Oh! Is she applying something on them?" She questioned worryingly, and in my head, I questioned myself the same thing I do every time a Royal asks us anything in fake concern, why do you even care? "No, we don't think too much about our wounds." Wow, tongue shut up. "Hm," she rubbed her hands, her head lowered, "give her this and don't tell anyone." She handed me medicine and made me hid it in my clothes. "Now go." She ordered. I left to the corridor, thinking what was going on. Why would she even care? I hid behind Luke's wall and waited for him to leave. He came out of his room, dressed up like he was on sale, who even wears such formal clothes all the time? Umm, The Royal people do. Just when I thought he would leave, he turned around and went back to his room. "Ugh!" I, very slowly, slapped the wall and began watching in that direction once again. "Who are you hiding from?" A voice hit my eardrums melodically and a gasp escaped my lips. I feared to turn around to make eye contact with this person. Well, I'm always getting in trouble and always getting out of it, but the question was that will I survive this time? And the bigger question was, who is behind me this time?
