Lakehouse

-Ella "You can't be serious," Kate protested, standing now beside me. "It's my decision, Kate. I choose this path because it is the right choice to make. I owe it to my people." "Screw the people! You should put yourself first." "Kate, I beg you to stop otherwise this will take a bad turn and I don't want this," I pointed to myself than at her,"to end badly. As my best friend, I want you to support me." She turned around and found her way out of the kitchen. Better. This way we won't fight further. "She cares for you," Xander said. "She does. She always has." He sighed and pushed back his chair, meaning he was about to stand up and leave. "I will take care of you, Ella. I hope you know that," he said and I stared back at him. "Just because this is a contract marriage, doesn't mean that I won't respect or take care of you, like any husband would. In my family, we take marriage very seriously, it is not a joke." His words felt like a confession, rather than a statement. "If there is anything I can do for you, please just let me know." He stood up and left. I was left alone in the kitchen, thinking that I may be the only one in my family and Xander's that doesn't really want to proceed with the marriage. They have all agreed to it, but I am doing it because it is my duty. Even though a duty, I somehow don't want to make through with it. Marrying someone I don't love . . . that's spitting on love's name. I must go and get ready before it's too late. I am in my room, getting ready for tonight. Madam Jozy has sent me a couple of white dresses, to try on. Most of them are knee-length long. Black would suit me better in this occasion - I thought to myself. The hairdresser wants my hair up, in a messy bun. "Please, just a normal bun will do. Something simple. It does not matter that much." "Wedding jitters?" He asked and I nodded dismissively. "You have such long and healthy hair. You must tell me your secret," he said, trying to cheer me up. "I eat and drink water. That's all," I lied. I take good care of my hair. Long hair suits me. "Have you ever thought of dying your hair?" "I have, actually, but I know it's not healthy and that's why I never went through with it." "With proper care, it will stay healthy even after bleaching." He continued talking and complaining about one of his clients, but my mind was elsewhere. What will happen after we get married? Are we going to live at his pack? How far is it from here? Does he want children right away? A chill went through my spine and I was getting all the more terrified by the second. ". . .and she didn't want to pay the full price, because she said I cut her hair too much and that's not what she wanted. I told her to get the f**k out of my salon and keep her filthy money." "You were rude, don't you think?" "Rude? Me? Never, darling," he patted me on my head. "You only need a few pearls and jewels on this pretty head of yours and you're done. Let me fetch them." I restrained myself from looking in the mirror. This look is not important to me and it will never be. My phone just rang and it startled me. I apparently have a message from my sister, Danielle. Danielle: How is everything going? Are you behaving yourself? I am sorry I had to miss your wedding, Ella. Text me when you have the time. I ignore it and open my books. I have downloaded "Harry Potter - The complete set" on my phone and can read them whenever I want to. Looking up for the third book, I find the chapter I am at currently, and continue reading it. "Now, I also have a tiara, and I want to use it on you." "No tiaras, Jesse. Just something simple." "But you can get the vail attached to this tiara. It's made especially for that." "Fine. Do whatever you like just please keep it simple." He kissed me on the cheek, startling me and it helped cheering me up. He kept talking, while I kept reading. It's been five minutes since Jesse left and now, one assistant of Madam Jozy's is in my room to help me get dressed. "These are all your size, and they all are made for your body. They all could fit in and you would look good on them, but it's you who must decide." "Let's just start one by one and we'll see then, which fits me better." "Certainly, Miss." She brought me the first dress, which looks beautiful, with a sweetheart neckline and it's long. My breasts are fortunately big enough to fit in such a dress. The dress has white and pale pink small butterflies attached to it, and it makes it look dreamy. "It looks beautiful on you, miss." "Thank you, I think so too." "You want to try the other dresses?" "I think this one is just perfect." "Very well then, Miss." Someone knocked on the door and without waiting for my permission to let them come in, they walked right in. Ah, it's my mother. "Dearest, you look lovely. Oh, so beautiful." "Thank you, mom." "I was looking for this," she said and approached me. "This is the necklace, my mother gave to me on my wedding day. It's time I passed it on to you." "Mom, this is gorgeous. Why didn't you give it to Danielle?" "Because, it is a tradition in our family to give the second daughter, the family jewellery." "Is this true?" I asked bewildered. "Yes. Your sister, being the oldest one, has to recieve something from her mother-in-law. That's how it has always been, in our family." That's interesting. "Here, let me put it on you." I turned so my mother could place the necklace around my neck. "Are these real diamonds?" I asked, running my fingers along the necklace. "Yes. It has been in our family for generations, not exactly sure how long, but, it's one of the most beautiful heirlooms my family has had." "Thank you, mother. It truly is wonderful." "Just like you, sweetheart. We have one hour to go to the lakehouse." "Lakehouse? Our lakehouse?" "It was Xander's wish that you get married outside, surrounded by nature. The guests are already on their way." "Did you invite a lot of people?" Please say no! "The whole village is coming, Ella. Also the Pack of Alpha Farris. His other children are coming too." "He has other children?" "He has seven children, including Xander, Xavion and Xavier." "Alpha Farris and the seven giants," I joked, but my mother didn't like it. "Now, my dear, before we leave I would like to have the talk with you." Angels, have mercy on me. "Mom, I know everything there is to know. I had biology at school." "Just because you are married," she started talking,"doesn't mean that you have to obey his every command. You, must be ready to consumate your marriage, sweetheart. I know how we always told you, first get married then you can do whatever you want, but that was meant, when you're with your mate. Xander on the other hand, is not and you will have it difficult to accept him, because of your mating bond. Please, be careful, because your she-wolf will be mad and try to hurt Xander, anyway she can." "Okay," was all I could muster. This keeps getting worse by the minute. What other secrets need to be unfolded?
