Logan As I drove back to my office, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions swirling inside me. On one hand, I was relieved that our agreement didn't end up in an argument, and that we could focus on our businesses without any distractions. On the other hand, I couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt for having to lie to my family about our situation. I knew my family would never approve of the co-parenting agreement, let alone the idea of getting married to someone I barely knew. But it was the only solution I could come up with to save my business and my reputation. And Olivia was the only one who was willing to help me out. As I pulled up to my office, I knew I had to come up with a plan to break the news to my family without them suspecting anything. I couldn't just show up with a sudden fiancée out of the blue. But I had to act fast, before any rumors or gossip could start circulating. I decided to focus on the meeting at hand that will be taking place the next day, discussing some important business matters and also plan out how to break the news to my family. I knew my family would be curious, but it was the perfect opportunity to bring my plan to life. As I settled into my office chair, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. This was uncharted territory for me, and I had no idea how things would turn out. But I knew I had to stay focused, and do whatever it takes to protect my business and my family's reputation. With a deep sigh, I picked up my phone and dialed my secretary number. It was time to start planning for the meeting. My assistant picked up after the second ring, her voice crisp and professional. "Good afternoon, Sir. How may I assist you?" "Good afternoon, Abigail. I need you to reschedule a meeting with the board of directors for tomorrow at noon." There was a pause on the other end of the line before Abigail spoke again. "Is everything alright, sir?" I hesitated for a moment before answering. "Yes, everything is fine. But we have some important matters to discuss." "Understood, sir. I'll take care of it right away." "Thank you, Abigail. And please make sure that everyone is present. This is a crucial meeting." "Of course, sir. I'll send out the invitations immediately." I hung up the phone and leaned back in my chair, my mind racing with thoughts of what was to come. I knew that the meeting would not be an easy one, but it was necessary. My family's reputation and our business were at stake, and I couldn't afford to let them suffer because of my personal life. I spent the rest of the afternoon preparing for the meeting, going over reports and presentations, and making sure that everything was in order. By the time I left the office, it was already dark outside, and the streets were quiet. As I drove home, my thoughts drifted back to Olivia. I wondered how she was doing and whether she is preparing for tomorrow. I knew that we had a long road ahead of us, but I was determined to make things work. I walked into the dining room to find my entire family seated and engaged in lively conversation. It was as if nothing had changed, but I knew that everything had. As soon as I entered the room, all eyes turned to me. My father's voice boomed across the room. "Are you going to stand there and watch us eat, or are you going to join us?" I took a deep breath and walked over to my usual seat at the table. As I sat down, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. How was I going to keep up this facade? As the meal progressed, I found myself lost in my own thoughts. I couldn't even tell you what we were eating or what my family was talking about. All I could think about was the upcoming meeting with Olivia and how I was going to navigate the situation without revealing our true relationship. My step mother must have noticed my distraction, because she placed a hand on my arm and asked, "Is everything okay, dear? You seem a bit preoccupied." I forced a smile and nodded. "Just some business matters that I need to attend to." My father spoke up. "Speaking of business, Logan, we have an important meeting tomorrow with one of our biggest clients. I trust you're prepared?" I nodded again. "Of course, father. I have everything under control." I cleared my throat and put down my fork. The silence at the dining table gave me the perfect opportunity to speak up. "Actually, I want to let everyone know that we will have a guest tomorrow," I said. My father looked up at me, confused. "A guest? Who is it?" I took a deep breath. "It's a friend's cousin. She's doing an internship here and needed a place to stay." My brother Scot, who was sitting across from me, chimed in. "What kind of internship doesn't provide housing for its interns?" I shrugged. "I'm not sure, but that's not our concern. I just wanted to let everyone know in advance." My sister-in-law Sarah, my second brother wife who had been silent up until that point, spoke up. "Well, I'm happy to help out in any way I can. Just let me know what I can do." I nodded, grateful for her offer. "Thank you. I appreciate it." We're one big family. The first son of the family is Scot, then comes me, the one following me is Bernard, and then there's Liam and lastly the youngest one is Collins. We're all males with different mothers. Scot and Liam are from the same mother, then Bernard and Collins. I was born as an only son to my mother. Who unfortunately is no more alive. The rest of dinner passed by in a blur. I couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt for not telling them the truth about Olivia and me. But I knew it was for the best. My family had a certain reputation to uphold, and I couldn't risk tarnishing it with my personal affairs. As we finished up, I excused myself to my room. Tomorrow was going to be a busy day, and I needed to prepare for the meeting with the client. But as I lay in bed, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. I just couldn't put my finger on it. The next morning, I woke up early and got ready for the meeting. I double-checked all the documents and reports, making sure everything was in order. I knew this was a crucial meeting, and I had to make a good impression. As I arrived at the meeting venue, I saw our biggest client's team waiting for us. I took a deep breath and walked in, ready to present our proposal. As the meeting came to a close, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. Our presentation had gone smoothly, and the client seemed pleased with our proposal. I was proud of the team's hard work, and it was satisfying to see it pay off. After the meeting, we all went for a celebratory lunch, and it was heartening to see the team bonding and enjoying themselves. However, as much as I wanted to bask in the moment, I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling in me. It was time to pick up Olivia, and I had already sent her a message earlier that I would come for her in the evening. As Brian and I made our way to pick up Olivia, he tried to reassure me about the situation with my family. "Don't worry about it, Logan. You already told your family and about Olivia even though its not the real truth. They don't really care about your affairs, so you don't have to stress about it." I nodded my head in answer. He's right. I let out a sigh of relief. "That's one less thing to worry about." "But you know, eventually you'll have to tell your father and stepbrothers," Brian added. "I know," I replied, "But for now, I just want to focus on the business and making sure everything runs smoothly." Brian nodded in agreement. "I understand. Just remember, we're all here to support you, man." I smiled appreciatively at him. "Thanks, Brian. I'm glad to have you on my side." When Olivia opened the door, my breath caught in my throat. She looked stunning. I couldn't help but have all sort of thoughts. Should I say dirty thoughts. I quickly scold my brain for having all sort of thoughts for Olivia. But at the same time, I can't deny the feeling guilty and nervous about our relationship. We exchanged pleasantries, and I couldn't help but notice the slight tension in her demeanor. I knew she was worried about meeting my family and the potential consequences of our relationship being exposed. As we pulled up to the driveway of the mansion, I felt a sense of dread wash over me. Even though Brian had assured me that everything was under control, I know I have to worry about how my family would react to Olivia's presence in our home. As we got out of the car, I took a deep breath and made my way inside, with Olivia by my side. As Olivia and I made our way inside, we found only my two sister-in-laws in the living room. The volume of the TV was loud, and they seemed to be engrossed in their show, not noticing our arrival. We exchanged looks and were about to move on when a maid approached us. "Welcome Sir" she greeted me bowing her head a bit. "Take her bag to the guest room and make sure the room is tidied up" I instructed. After she left, Scott wife, Amelia, finally noticed our presence, but only for a brief moment before turning her attention back to the TV. "Um.. can you take me to my room" Olivia broke out beside me. I forced out a smile trying to discard the thick air in the room. As made our way to the stairs, we heard the laughter of the two women. It was clear that they didn't care much about our arrival, but I didn't let that bother me. I knew what I had to do, and I was ready to take charge.
