Chapter 3

1814 Words
“Hurry up Oliver, we need to drive 100 miles, we must leave now.” I say to Oliver who is still running around in the apartment like a head-lost chicken because he left the packing for the last minute like always. “I am coming, I am almost done.” He says but he is nowhere near to ‘done’. College starts tomorrow so we need to move today to our other house in Huntington Beach what we rented last year together with the guys because we didn’t want to live in those dorm rooms. We liked to live together in freshmen year so that’s why we decided to move in together in Bakersfield as well. I was living with Liam and his family before because.... well, that’s an other story what I don’t really like to talk about. Liam´s parents always treated me like I am their own son, they know everithing about me, what happend to my parents and how I lived on the street with shady people around me. They actually saved me when they let me into their home. We become friends with Liam when we were around 8 so I was quite a lot in their house to play with Liam and after a while they find out that I can´t really count on my parents and I am most of the time alone so they took me in and helped me a lot to let my old habits like stealing behind. “If you are not ready in ten minutes Oliver, we are leaving without you.” Jordan says as he carries his suitcase to the front door. Jorden and Oliver joined us in highschool when we were classmates and once when we had a fight some older students, they didn´t hesitate to stand up to them along with us, even though they didn´t know us yet. Since then we are all best friends and follow each other anywhere and help each other with anything. “I don’t know why you guys are in a hurry, Liam is not ready yet either.” Oliver says while he tries to close his suitcase but it is impossible with that much stuff in it.  “Wrong.” Liam says when he drops his bag on the floor of the living room. “I am ready.” He adds with a smug smile. Oliver groans and looks at us with a frustrated expression on his face. “Can one of you help me to close this sh*t already?” He asks frustratedly and I roll my eyes and move to help him. I open his suitcase to see what is in it and I look back at him in disbelief. “Are you serious? You could have put half of this things in an other bag.” I tell him and he looks at me in realisation. “Oh... right.” He says while he scratches the back of his neck and I massage my forehead with my fingers. He isn’t the smartest among us so I go to grab an other bag and throw a few of his stuffs into it. “Let’s go.” I say when we are done and we carry our bags down to the cars. We are going with two cars, Jordan will come with me and Oliver will go with Liam. Liam has a white AMG Mercedes what his dad bought him for his 18th birthday. His parents are loaded if you didn’t figure it out yet and he gets everything what he wants, he just needs to say it. That’s why one would say that he is arrogant and selfish. Well, he is, but he is my best friend anyway. Jordan and Oliver too, but we have a closer relationship with Liam since we grew up together and his family helped me a lot in the hard times and I can’t thank them enough. That’s also the reason why I stand up to anyone who tries to mess with him, even if he was at fault, what happened quite often in the past. We are driving on the highway finally and Liam is driving right behind us. We have a two and half hours long ride ahead of us and I can’t wait to get there already. “You know, I am kind of excited to go back to school.” Jordan says as we are on about halfway. “I have the feeling that this year will be different.” He says and I look at him with raised eyebrows. “Different as better? We will have more fun? Or different as even more boring than the previous one?” I ask him with a smirk. I don’t think this year will be any different from the the rest. School is always boring, girls throw themselves at us, we are throwing a party on every weekend and drinking almost every day. The only ‘different’ thing is the fighting for me but Jordan and Oliver don’t fight anymore, only me and Liam. I taught him how to be a good fighter when we were twelve and now he is almost as good as me. “I don’t know, I can’t explain it, I just feel like this year will be different.” He says and I just shake my head. “We will see Jordan, maybe you will find the love of your life, that’s why you feel like this.” I say and look at him with a teasing smile. He is gaping at me and I burst out laughing on his expression. “The hell I will, uh-uh... I am still too young, thank you.” He says while shakes his head with a terrified look on his face and I laugh even more. “We will see buddy, we will see...” I say and he fall asleep after 20 minutes while I am driving. About an hour later we arrive to the house and I get out of the car right away to stretch my body. The guys do the same with loud groans, it’s not so comfortable to sit in the same position for hours, my eyes are tired as well from the driving. “Actually, it’s good to be back, I am curious to see what this school year will bring for us.” Oliver says excitedly and Jordan turns to me with an ‘I told you it will be different’ look on his face and I just roll my eyes at him. We all grab our bags and head into the house. It’s a big five bedrooms house about seven miles away from the school. The house has a huge garden and a swimming pool, the best place to throw a party. I missed this house to be honest, I always liked to sit in the garden in the evening, it’s so peaceful here. If the guys aren’t home, of course. “I missed this house.” Liam says when we place our stuff into the living room and everybody agree with him. “Why don’t you ask your father to buy it for you?” Oliver asks Liam and he looks at him with raised eyebrows. “I don’t think he would do that, this house is expensive, I am sure about that.” He says while looks around. “It worth a try.” Oliver murmurs under his breath. I walk into the kitchen and open the refrigerator what is totally empty. “We need to go to the supermarket to fill up the kitchen, I don’t even know why I opened it.” I say the last part mostly to myself and the guys just groan. “I hate shopping.” Oliver whines. “We all do, but we have to.” I tell him. “Let’s just order something today, anyway it’s 6 pm already.” Oliver says and we all look at him. “And who’s fault is that?” Jordan asks him and we all nod. Oliver just hold up his hands like he gives up on the argument and drag his suitcase and bags upstairs into his room, we all do the same. “Guys, leave the unpacking for now, we need to leave before the supermarket close.” I shout out of my room and the guys walk out finally and we leave the house to buy groceries. We go with my car and we are there in 3 minutes since the supermarket is close to the house luckily. “Do you guys have a list?” Oliver asks and we all look at him with a confused look. “List for what?” Liam asks him and Oliver looks at us like we are from an other planet. “Shopping list, silly.” He says and we look at him strangely because of his high voice. “We don’t need one, we just buy everything what we need for now and we will come back on an other day to buy the rest.” I say and they all nod in agreement. “Jayden?” I hear a familiar female voice calls out to me. ‘Please god, just not her.’ I pray to god while I turn around but my nightmare come true when she stands in the front of me. “What are you doing here, Abigail? Are you following me?” I ask her with a dark look on my face. She folds her arms in the front of her chest what makes her breasts look even bigger. “Tss... why would I do that? I will start my first day in college here, that’s why I am here.” She says and I look at her in disbelief. “Don’t tell me you will start at the St. Francis college?” I ask her hoping she will say no, but today is not my day I guess because she threw a flirty smile in my way. “How did you know?” She says seductively and I face palm right away and look at Jordan. “Different, huh?” I ask him sarcastically and turned around to walk away. Why is this happening to me, I thought finally I will get rid of her and now she is here in the same city and in the same school as me. What else can go wrong?
