Chapter 7: Fair and Square

Tamara’s pov He didn’t answer me, which is something I expected. My question wasn’t one that actually needed an answer. So, we just sat in silence as we waited for the omega Ruth that I called earlier. We waited for Ruth, but she never came, so I had to call her again. “Ruth, I am still waiting.” I said and heard her sigh. “I am busy, get someone else to run your errands.” She said. I think she thought she hung up because I heard her scoff. “She thinks that just because I am an omega, she could order me around.” I heard her say. I hung up and found Alpha Darius looking at me with a smirk. “You can’t do magic to save your life. You almost burned down the house and even an omega doesn’t respect you.” He said and then got up. “Now tell me, how on earth can someone like you become Alpha Queen?” He asked me. “I will take you to the training grounds myself.” I said, closing the file I had on my table. “Please follow me.” I said, leading the way to the training grounds. “If you are a reader, then this is the library. Mama Grace makes the best coffee in town, so you can buy it there.” I said, giving him a tour. We got to the training grounds, and everyone started their training. Others were running, others were using stretches, and it was just a ground full of people working out. I walked to Joseph. " This is Alpha Darius. He would like to join you with training.” I said to Joseph Grayson. He usually helps with overlooking the training sessions along with Uncle Bryan. Since my dad had left, Uncle Bryan has been a lot busier than usual, so Joseph will be training them alone. “Nice to meet you, Alpha.” Joseph said, extending his hand. Alpha Darius just looked at his hand and, after a few seconds, extended his. They exchanged a handshake and I just stood there shocked. “Great to meet you.” Alpha Darius said, and he actually wasn’t hostile. Although he was cold, he was at the same time monotone and not hostile in any way. Every time he talks to him, his entire demeanor and tone changes. He is always spewing venom my way. Well, now I know for certain that he only hates me and my family. “Hello Alpha Darius, would you please be my partner?” Kim said, playing with her hair. “How can I say no to being, partners with such a beautiful lady?” He asked Kim who blushed. Kim is a b***h. I tolerate her and let her say whatever she wants because her grandfather is an elder. They already don’t like us, so the last thing I want to do is to anger her grandfather, who has a great influence on our pack. “You are really handsome.” Deidra said, and Alpha Darius walked towards her. “And you are really beautiful.” He said, kissing her hand. “When you will start joining us Tamara?” Joseph asked and I just shrugged. As for Joseph, he doesn’t take sides and is the most neutral person you will ever meet. Actually, neutral isn’t the right word. He is fair and doesn’t support any injustice. He believes that people should get what they deserve no matter who they are. “Oh, please, Joseph, I think Tamara here is still a little traumatized after being beaten up by an omega.” Kim said and started laughing. “Yes, ever since then she never stepped foot at the training grounds.” Rose their other friend said. “You got beaten by an omega?” Alpha Darius asked me. His voice and face told me everything I wanted to know about how he thinks of me. Well, it’s a good thing I never really believed in the mate bond. Imagine if I had dreamt of finding my mate only to find someone who looks at me like I am piece of trash. Someone who obviously can’t hide their hatred for me and wants to see me dead. “I don’t think I will be coming here anytime soon.” I answered Joseph, who nodded. I went back home, and the moment I got there, I changed into training clothes and started training. I hated the way they looked at me like I was nothing and no one. After working out, I went straight to the office and started working on the files. I always helped my parents with their work. So, I am familiar with what needs to be done. So, I stayed in the office for hours and continued working. I caught Alpha Darius’s scent, and a few seconds later, he opened the door without knocking. He then put a large briefcase on the desk and then opened it. It was filled with money. “What is this?” I asked him and he shrugged. “It’s money.” He answered, and I nodded. “Yes, I realize that, but what is it doing on my desk?” I asked him. He sat down on the chair. I noticed how he disrespects me all the time. “I will not stay here and eat here for free. This is this month’s rent.” He answered. “That’s a lot of money.” Stanley said as he walked into my office. He then came and stood behind me. “You should take it, you heard the man. He is obviously a man of honour.” Stanley added. He was obviously being sarcastic, and Alpha Darius didn’t seem to react to his comment. “And who are you?” Alpha Darius asked Stanley, who smiled as he extended his hand. “Stanley Monroe, I am Tamara’s Gamma.” He answered, and I wanted to roll my eyes. “What are you doing here? You should be at the pack house.” I said, and he just shrugged. “And leave my lovely Alpha Queen to stay with the big bad Alpha?” he asked me, patting my head. Alpha Darius just looked at Stanley’s hand and then turned to leave without another word. “Moody, huh?” Stanley said after Alpha Darius left and I smiled. “You are here.” I said, and he just shrugged. “I can’t leave you alone with someone like him.” He said. “He doesn’t cause any trouble. He hardly talks to us, and what will we do with the money?” I asked, looking at the briefcase. “Well, you can buy me a new car.” Stanley answered. Stanley is like an older brother, Austin and I literally found him outside our pack when we were sneaking out. He was a rouge back then, and we bought him back home. Mom and Dad tried everything they could to find his parents who were missing, but had no luck. They then made him a part of our pack, and now he is going to be my Gamma. And ever since then, he has been family. “Did you get the information I asked you for?” I asked him and he nodded. He then took out a file from a bag he was holding. “This is all the information you need on Bane Dawn and Alpha Darius.” he said, and I looked at the file. You didn’t think I would just live with a stranger and not take any precautionary measures? I am not going to fight an enemy I don’t know. I looked at the information, and it had everything I asked for. “Here it says that he has a Beta called Ross Jones.” I said, reading the file. “Yes, but he didn’t come here. Apparently, there are some problems between the two families.” Stanley said. “Well, that’s unfortunate. I think we should invite Mr Ross Jones to join us here. Maybe the two will be able to solve their problems.” I said, and Stanley chuckled. “And why do you want them to resolve their issues?” he asked me, and I just shrugged. “I don’t like conflict, it makes me uncomfortable.” I replied, and he chuckled before nodding. “Deal with it in a way that won’t look like I am trying to create problems between them.” I added, and Stanley chuckled. “That’s the last thing you want to do, right?” he asked me, and I nodded. Alpha Darius will spend the next 6 months trying to gain allies here, and I bet that Kim’s family is on his list. While he is gaining allies in my pack, I believe I should also gain allies in his as well. It will only make this fair and square, right?
