Chapter 9: Willpower

Tamara’s pov
I heard him scoff and then look at me like he was seeing me for the first time.
“Thank you so much, I will make sure to return the favour.
Next time, I will be the one who is considerate towards your happiness. Mate,” he said, and then walked away.
That actually was a threat.
Well, I will just enjoy my victory for now.
I walked back in and found Uncle Bryan and everyone already at the dining table.
“You were just in time, please eat to your heart’s content,” I said to Beta Ross Jones.
He smiled as he looked at me, “thank you,” he said as we sat down.
“What a feast, is it a special occasion?” Beta Ross asked me.
“Not really, your good friend there gave us plenty of money for all your needs.
If you need anything please let us know,” Stanley answered.
Alpha Darius, who has never been interested in dining with us, sat down with us and started making food for himself.
“I have honestly always been curious about the moonstone pack, what kind of pack is it?” I asked Beta Ross who chuckled.
“I hope you did not believe the rumours, not everyone there is a vicious killer,” he said the last part and looked at Alpha Darius.
“And not everyone there is a wimp without a backbone,” Alpha Darius said.
“Beta Ross, you have such a lovely name,” I said before things could escalate.
“Thank you, but please call me Ross,” he said, and I nodded.
I poured him a glass of juice, “she squeezed it herself this morning,” Jennifer said with a smirk.
He took a sip and smiled, “how did you know that it was my favourite?” he asked me.
“It was a lucky guess,” I said, and looked at Stanley, who winked.
“You must be tired. After resting, I will have Tamara give you a tour of our pack,” Uncle Bryan said.
“Yes, since it will be your home as well for the next 6 months,” I said.
“Will he be staying here for 6 months?” Alpha Darius asked.
“Yes, I thought that you would feel safer when someone you know is here.
Who is better at keeping you safe than your own beta?” I asked him.
“How considerate of you,” he said with clenched teeth.
I looked at Jennifer who was looking at me surprised but just shrugged when I asked her why through the mind link.
“I would love a tour of your beautiful town.
And that too with a beautiful lady,” Ross said.
We had breakfast, and it turned out that Ross really didn’t mind talking.
I actually enjoyed it because it meant that I didn’t have to talk much and keep him engaged.
He can do that all by himself, but I also realized that he is actually a really good person.
“Are you ready for the tour?” I asked Ross a few hours later after he had taken a nap.
“Ready as I will ever be,” he said, and I smiled.
I took one step forward and stopped when I heard the door slam and Alpha Darius heading towards us.
“Are you going to keep clinging to us like a leech?” Ross asked him.
“I don’t have a choice, one of you is an i***t who doesn’t have any ambition and the other is an ambitious person without any willpower,” he said the last part and looked at me.
I guess I am the ambitious person with no willpower.
“Please join us, I still owe you a tour as well,” I said with a smile.
He didn’t say anything and just followed in silence as I gave Beta Ross a tour.
I need to somehow get into his Beta’s good books.
From what I know, his beta could somehow stop him from becoming Alpha King.
If his own beta decides to side with me, then everyone will wonder what is wrong with Alpha Darius.
And the Jones family are also a powerful family with a lot of influence here.
Having them on our side wouldn’t kill us, and he doesn’t seem to care that I am a hybrid.
I think he cares more about pissing Alpha Darius off more than anything.
But would that be enough to get him on my side?
“What is your favourite place here?” Ross asked me.
“No one has ever asked me that question,” I said with a smile, and started thinking about it.
“Wait, let me guess, it’s the library,” he said, and I nodded.
“How did you know?” I asked him and he just shrugged.
“It’s a talent,” he said with a wink, and we concluded the tour.
“And this is the training grounds,” I showed him, and he looked around.
The werewolves had already started with their training.
Someone is always training here and this time it was a group, and as always Kim and her friends were there.
She came in running,.
“Alpha Darius, how are you?” she asked him.
Her eyes landed on me and Ross.
“Who is your little friend?” she asked me.
“This is Beta Ross. He is Alpha Darius’s beta,” I said and watched her eyes widen.
“I am so sorry,” she said, bowing her head at him.
“Tamara, if you keep coming here, then I will just have to include you in the training program,” Joseph said, and I smiled.
“I have so many guests, I have to come here and introduce them to the best trainer in the world,” I said, and Joseph smiled.
“You are buttering me up, aren’t you?
Fine, I won’t force you to come and train with us,” he said.
“Like she trains, she is so weak,” Kim whispered, but her intentions were clear.
How can she whisper in front of werewolves?
“I am your guest, right?” Ross asked and I nodded.
“Then will you do as your guest asks?” he asked me, and I nodded.
“Train with me, here at the pack ground.
You have a fight coming in 6 months.
I will make sure that by the time that 6 months comes you will be strong enough to win,” he said, and then looked at Alpha Darius.
I don’t know why they don’t get along, but I do know that they grew up together.
They trained together and have fought side by side.
If there is anyone in this world who knows Alpha Darius’s fighting style, it is him.
Plus, I will also get brownie points as well if I let him train me.
“She has never worked hard in her entire life. Everything she had and was handed to her, even if you had 60 months she wouldn’t be able to beat me,” Alpha Darius said.
“Alpha Darius is right, she was once beaten by an omega. Can you imagine that”, Kim said with a smile.
“I don’t remember asking for any of your opinions,” Ross said and then looked at me.
“What do you say Tamara, will you have me as your trainer?” he asked me.
“How can ever say no to such a proposal?” I asked him.
