I think you ate three pieces.” “Oh, yes!” I remembered the melt-in-your mouth pies and also that the woman’s face was so incredibly sun-weathered it looked like a wrinkled old work glove. “Thanks, Ronda.” She started to walk away and then swiveled around. “If you still want her to meet your family, I’d suggest getting over there before she has any more to drink.” I frowned at her. “Really? Should she be mixing booze with prescription drugs?” “Hey, I don’t have time to babysit her tonight. I’m just telling it like it is.” With that, she hurried away
