I woke to the face of my mate looking at me with concern in his eyes.
“But you were...” was all I got out.
“They dosed us with a hallucinogenic. It was how they were able to find out what our worst fears were. Your mind took you too deeply into it. You were out significantly longer than you were supposed to be. The elders refused to let us wake you. They said you were on a journey set before you by the Moon Goddess.”
I looked up at him. Confused and feeling like I had a hangover.
“You didn’t die?” I asked with caution.
“No, my love. Is that what you witnessed?”
I nodded my head. He sat down on the bed next to me as I explained to him everything that had happened.
