Ruth hung on to her seatbelt for dear life again as Charlotte hurtled down the slip road to join the A1M. She had declared that the best place for ‘good’ clothes would be Newcastle. Naomi made no attempt to disguise the fact that she was praying for their lives again, with her friend and boss’s driving skills. Or lack thereof. As they rushed passed the Angel of the North, Ruth gasped, seeing that Charlotte was doing close to 70 MPH.
“Charlotte, they have reduced the speed limit here to just 50 miles per hour,” Ruth gently reminded her.
“Balls to that. It is a bloody dual carriageway and part motorway. Motorways are 70, there is no need for the speed limit to be 50, it is a money-making scam!” Charlotte protested.
