Ruth stood waiting anxiously outside what had once been Signor Coats' office door, as she waited to be called in. Her body shook from head to toe, with the shock at Devon’s revelation. A million things were going through her head all at once, giving her a numb sensation in her brain. What about everything she had shared with him? Would he hold how she had met Clay and arrived in England against her? Was he upset that she had gone behind the former owners' back and photocopied the paperwork before shredding it?
