Seth looked for a pebble to throw down the corridor to the other end of the hall, but settled for a rock. Ellie mouthed that it was too big, but Seth mouthed that it was all that he could find. This time, the guard on the right was sleeping. Seth waited until the other guard was faced in the opposite direction, and then threw the rock as hard as he could. Seth thought that all of his years playing little league at home had finally paid off. The lone rock made a loud clatter at the other end of the hall, then a series of clanking metal down the stairs, and a cat squealed at the bottom of the stairs.
