12 The madam hurried forward, and Allie followed. They reached the archway where the shadows crept toward the opening. Zarcony paused to one side of the entrance and Allie stopped at the other. Both of them looked into the long tunnel. The lights stopped about fifty feet in. “He always has to make this difficult…” Zarcony muttered. She cast a curious look at Allie and smiled at her. “Why don’t you go ahead?” Allie her jaw hit the floor and her words came out in a high-pitched squeak. “Me? Why me?” “Because I believe you’re just the person for this job.
