“Go,” my father says before asking if I may be excused, and the grand elder says I may. I get up and walk out, frustrated to the point of bursting. Listening to the council members talk about Clio like she is just a thing, a piece of plastic, makes me want to hit something hard, and what happened this morning with the seer isn’t helping either.
After my father gave up, he asked the seer if there was anything we could do, and there was nothing. So, we were left with one option: to run Clio’s DNA into the royal database.
