I open my eyes to the glow of my phone’s screen and I carefully slip out of bed to not wake Clio and head to the bathroom to answer. It’s Christos. We greet each other good morning and he asks how we slept. I tell him we tried before turning the question back to him, but I freeze at his next words.
He tells me he just heard from Valerio that Athena is pregnant with a girl and my eyes widen before tears well up in them. I’m speechless for a moment, causing Christos to call my name, not sure if I’m still on the line. I’m too devastated to speak.
