HAIDEN'S POV -- "Mother," I try to speak to her again, but she's just lying in the bed, silent and half dead. She hasn't eaten, and she only drinks water now and then. She's thin, abnormally thin and it scares me. "Just eat," I push the toast closer to her, but she doesn't move. I only know that she's alive by the way her chest rises and falls. "Mom," I sigh, waiting for a response, but I'm left with silence and a hallow woman. She's someone I don't recognize, a person with no will to live. She was once so lively, and perhaps this is now my punishment for my sin. Is this worth it?
