Chapter One
Bella
Watching the clock doesn't make it go any faster. Soon, it will be lunchtime and the most dreaded part of my day. This is our last year in school, and I can't wait to get out. Ever since sixth grade, I have been the number one target for Huntley and his girls. He is the handsome, arrogant, self-centered spoil brat of the high school, and I am the ugly duckling of our pack.
Ding,, goes the bell, and my stomach goes in knots. Here comes the laughs of the day, on me. Entering the cafeteria, I quietly walk to the back of the line. Looking around, I see Huntly and his girls gathering on the other side of the cafe. Sneaking to a corner table, I choke down my food, hoping they wouldn't find me. I start thinking about how it use to be and how it turned around to this.
***************Flash back *************
It's sad that in sixth grade, we used to all be friends. Spending time together at Huntlys mansion, We promised each other that no matter what, we would always be friends. I remember the time we all ran away together. Huntly's father was being a jerk, so we all packed snacks and drinks and ran away to the horse barn. Hiding in the tool shed, that was until the maid found us. No matter what, we all stuck together. Then summer came, and things started changing. Huntley was made to go with his father on his travels, and Tabby and Amanda started spending more time at the mall , leaving me behind. Soon, it was the first day of seventh grade. Waiting at the school entrance, I couldn't believe what I saw. Huntly was tall and dressed like a jock, Tabby and Amanda were wearing makeup, had their nails done, new hair styles, and mini shirts. They walked right past me like I wasn't there. When I finally caught up to them, I found out I was no longer wanted. The reason I was too ugly to hang with Huntly and his girl followers.
********* End of Flash Back *******
Yes, I finally got a day of not wearing my lunch to actually eating my lunch. That was until I made it to the stair steps leading to the second floor. Grabbing my shoulder, Amanda spun me around while Tabby knocked the books out of my hands. Of course, everyone laughed. After all, it was the best-looking girls in the school making a joke of the ugly duckling.
I don't know what came over me, but I stood up and screamed, "Stop it you stupid bitch." Next thing I knew I was taking my book and smacking her with it. The hall went silent. That was until Mr. Finley grabbed me. "What are you doing?Let's go, office now!"
Taking a bow as they all started laughing, we headed to the office.
"Have a seat, Bella. I take it you were the victim again." Mr. Price knew I was the school's joke. But, like everyone else, he wouldn't take on Roman, Huntlys dad.
"They knocked my books out of my hands. I guess I just reacted. Sorry, it won't happen again. "
"Good, I don't want to see you in here again. You're a good student with high marks. Soon, school will be over, and you will be out in the world. you can't hit everyone who hurts your feelings. Now head back to class and try to smile." I hate his sheepish grin he always gives me. Asshole, I whisper under my breath as I leave the room.
Tapping my foot, I waited for the bell to ring. Yes, now I can exit this place. Graduation will be in a few weeks, and I can leave here for good. My sister said maybe she can get me a job in her hospital, only problem she works in the hospital in town , the human hospital. Mom tolerates it but hates how she smells when she comes home.
Walking home is my relief time. Cutting through the park, I stop and watch the ducks and swans in the lake. They are so graceful and beautiful. It brings me peace to sit and watch them. besides, I know here I am safe. Huntly and his group all drive. They never come here to the park. According to them, this is a disgusting dirty place only good for nerds.
Losing track of time and daydreaming, I jump when my phone rings. "Mom, what's up?"
"Nothing much. I heard you had a visit to Mr. Price today. Are you okay?"
"Yes, it's the usual Huntly and his girls. No big deal. I will be home soon." I wondered to myself how'd she found out so fast.
No big deal. The other girls have all senced their wolf. Me nothing. Tabby and Amanda are built perfectly. Tall thin, nice chest, long blond hair, and blue eyes. Huntly, he's perfect. Tall, six packs, muscles everywhere,Jet black wavey hair with bright green eyes. He's handsome, and he knows it. Plus he in the next Alpha. Born into the top bloodline and richest family. No wonder they left me behind. I am tall, too thin, and scraggly with bright red natural curly hair that goes past my butt. oh ya hazel eyes and no chest, just bumps. Mom tells me I was blessed by the God's, cursed is more like it.So what I am smart, straight A student. Always on honor roll. The only time my class mates know I am alive is when they need help with homework. Sad.
My mom is the sweetest, most caring person you will ever meet. She works for Huntlys dad, Roman. He owns the biggest resort on the coast. My mom is the manager and pretty much runs the whole show. Roman is always busy going on trips with his new female friend at the time.Mom keeps telling me she has a job waiting for me after school. Neither job appeals to me. I keep thinking something far away from here would be perfect. Its Friday, so supper is pizza. Dad brings it home with him after work. Sarah eats with us on Friday nights. She smells like humans, and mom tells her to go wash before she sits at the table. Sarah is the heat doctor at the human hospital in the town. That's the only reason mom tolerates the smell. She is super proud of her, plus dad is the heart surgeon at the same hospital, so mom is out numbered.
The weekends mean a time to relax for me, but not this weekend. I have two papers due on Monday. "Mom, dad, I am heading to my room. Term papers are due Monday, and I need to get them done. " Not sure they heard me with all the chatter coming from the kitchen, but any how I told them.
Sitting at my desk, I can't concentrate. my mind keeps wondering off. Turning on the radio, I hear some of my favorite songs. They take me away to a freedom place. Dancing around my room feeling super, I finally came up with a topic for my one paper. No, my teacher will reject it. She will say it's not a reasonable topic. At this point, I don't care. I just keep on dancing. Stopping in front of the mirror, I look at myself. There stood a skinny, scraggly girl with no boobs. I look like an extra tall grade school kid. When will I get boobs and a body that doesn't look like a stick? Never I scream at the mirror. My laptop pings. Clicking on the photo, I see it's a post Huntly put up on our school page. Oh look its a photo of me with a stick body and the word loser. Of course, it has over a thousand likes. Laying on my bed, I can't help but feel like a loser. When will I start being a winner, I keep asking myself.
