SEVEN

SEVEN One second I was asleep and the next, I was wide awake and in a strange room. It was wide, white and I could still smell the paint. Panicked, I tried to sit up but there was something stopping me. Turning my head, I was met with handcuffs! What in the name of... I tried to dislodge my hand, twisting my wrist from side to side, but it was no use. I growled. If this was Ashton’s great plan to keep me from Shady's then he didn’t know me. Pausing, I tried to remember the events from last night but I was met with a blur. “Deena, where am I?” I questioned and silence was my answer. I growled again. “Ashton, let me out of here!” I yelled as loudly as I could, ignoring the slight ache in my head. “Come on! I need to pee.” It wasn’t a lie. I really needed to use the bathroom. The door flew open, banging against the wall and I flinched. The person that walked in made me cower. Dylan. His eyes were a smouldering red and his jaw was clenched. I ducked my head.  My heart pounded furiously as I squeezed my eyes shut. Goddess, he had found me! I hadn’t exactly gone into hiding because I had not expected him or anyone from Silver Moon to search for him, but a huge part of me believed I was never going to see him again.  “Look at me!” The alpha in him growled and my eyes snapped open. His weight dipped the bed, I scrambled away. “Hello,” I squeaked for lack of anything to say. “Here, I got you a toothbrush,” He handed me a pink toothbrush. I collected it with my free hand. I must have been giving him a weird look because he sighed, reached into his back pocket for something, then he uncuffed me. “The bathroom is that way,” He pointed to his left. I scrambled to my feet and all but ran into the bathroom. Dylan was acting weird and I didn’t know how to react to that. It didn’t help that his presence made my entire being tingle and blush. It was unsettling. Relieving myself, I proceeded to brush my teeth vigorously. I was stalling. Fifteen minutes later and my gums were starting to ache from all the brushing. I stalled for another five minutes, washing my face and then just staring at my reflection in the mirror. I looked a mess. My hair band had fallen off and my hair was a tangled mess. Consciously, I combed through it to make it semi-presentable, using a chunk of hair to secure the rest in a ponytail.  Deep breath in. Deep breath out.  He was still there when I stepped out. “Drink this,” He handed me a glass of something and I almost threw up. Herbs. Yuck! I glanced at the liquid curiously. It was deep green, smelt funny and oh no! What if he was trying to poison me?! “Just drink it!” He snapped impatiently. I held my breath and downed the entire content of the cup. Bleergh. Less than a minute later and I could feel myself completely wake up. “Man I’m beat!” It was Deena. I ignored her, watching Dylan’s every move. He paced back and forth and my eyes never left him. I stood waiting for any sign of danger so i could bolt. Shouldn’t be long. “I’ve missed you.” He stopped pacing. Surprise must have shown on my face because he glared. “Oh don’t look so surprised! We’re mates.” There was surprising no disdain in his voice. *And to think you were off getting drunk with a dude,” His eyes flashed red. Ashton! Oh my god! I twiddled my thumb as a hundred terrible scenarios sped through my eyes. Goddess, please let him be okay! “Where's Ashton?” I questioned frantically. That turned out to be the wrong thing to say. “Where he should be!” His eyes glowed red and his balled his hands into a fist. “He put his hands on my mate! He put his hands on you,” He growled. Oh goddess, no! “Where is he? You didn’t.. You haven’t? Oh, please no.” Ashton didn’t deserved whatever it is Dylan put him through. All he had done was care for me. He had been nothing but kind. His eyes flashed back to their normal blue and he crowded into my space. “I was going crazy without you, “ He murmured softly, hands loosening my ponytail. My hair cascaded down my back as lips descended on mine. I couldn’t help the sigh of contentment that escaped my lips. It felt like finally scratching an itch, one that had lasted for eighteen days at that. I was happy. All thoughts of Ashton flew out the window as my hands stroked into soft, silky locks. “Tell me, did you miss me?” His words were muffled in my neck and I groaned. “Y-yeah,” I panted, brain happily empty. I was floating on a rainbow cloud and I never wanted to descend. “How much?” His breath fanned across my throat. It was only a matter of time before things got heated, and when I felt my back hit the mattress, a part of me didn’t agree. It took a lot of effort but I managed to flip our positions.  He huffed out a laugh. “Cute.” He didn’t think it cute when I nipped at his lower lip and his breath caught. Ha! With an annoyingly minimal effort on his part, I was once again on my back. I growled low and he growled back. “Submit already!” he snarled, making me glower.  Our wolves started to battle for dominance as I growled. “Never!” A loud throat clearing broke through the haze. Face red with embarrassment, I turned to the door to see our–Dylan's parents.  "You couldn't have waited ten more minute?" Dylan growled at them making his dad chuckle. "Sorry son," he replied, but he looked everything but sorry. “I didn’t think you’d need less than two hours, to be honest.” He grinned at me. "Oh, Remi!" his mom exclaimed, launching herself at me. My blood curled and I screamed loudly, leaping out of the bed. In a flash, Dylan was up, stepping between his mum and I. He growled threateningly at her and her mate drew her to him, growling at his son. "Oh," She muttered, taking a step back. The atmosphere became tense as Dylan scratched his neck. “Sorry.” He sounded embarrassed. The white ceiling suddenly became quite fascinating to him. "I was only going to hug her," she said and my eyes bulged. When did she get so friendly? When did she start handing out free hugs!? Especially to me! “I’m sorry,” He still wouldn’t look at her. “It’s just instincts, you know. She got frightened and I reacted. “ He scratched his neck again. The ceiling became fascinating to me too.  “I understand. I’m sorry too.” She looked so dejected, I almost felt bad for her. Da– Her husband sighed loudly before wrapping her in a side hug.  “Come on, Martha. Let’s give the lovebirds some space. We’ll be back later,” He pulled his wife out of the room. Dylan’s threatening stance did not relax until we heard their car pull out of the driveway. He sagged into the bed. “Well that was awkward, “ He said. Still not used to speaking to him, I nodded in agreement. “Come ‘ere,” He patted the spot next to him and I only resisted for a second.
