Bullseye

She sat down on the couch in the living room, looking at the table in the middle of the room as she was lost in thoughts. She didn't even realize it when two people walked into the room. Her mom and dad, Cassandra and Gary, both entered the room, to which Gary asked, "You're back. How was the party?" But seeing that their daughter wasn't looking happy, they walked closer to her and sat beside her. "What's wrong?" Cassandra asked. Every time, they had always known that their daughter, Valerie, was the one who would change his life forever. They were happy when their daughter got to attend a party in the pack, even when they couldn't because of their status. But for their other daughter, Amelia, they didn't see her as anyone who would benefit their family, especially Gary, who was her biological father. The only thing he could do was collect Amelia's money or steal it from her. He really loved Valerie to the point that he would always give her anything she wanted just to make her happy, and seeing her look so sad got him really worried. "Talk to me, Valerie. Did someone hurt my baby?" He asked again, but Valerie just sighed before looking at him. "What do you think could be the reason for Amelia living in the Alpha's house? I mean, he must have threatened her to do something the last time he sent those men." Valerie said, but her father was just looking at her, confused. "I don't know what could be the reason, but I know she's probably working as a maid. But how did that get to affect your mood?" The man was confused as to why she was stressing over Amelia, who almost got them killed. "See what Amelia caused. Valerie couldn't have a good sleep ever since she brought those people to threaten us. I also can't get enough sleep. Who knows what she did to them?" Cassandra lamented, looking at Gary, but kept quiet at once when she heard. "She came to the party." The man also looked up at her in shock. "She came to the party?" He asked, to which she explained everything to him. How she had pushed her, causing her to destroy someone's clothes, and how the beta had come to save her. Cassandra and Gary couldn't say a word. Even though Amelia lives in Alpha's house and the beta saved her from embarrassment, they still did not want to believe that something might be happening. "I've heard everything you just told me, but I don't think anything can happen between any of them. Whether beta or alpha, She's an omega." He said, smiling at his daughter, while Cassandra also nodded, but both their smiles faded when they heard. "I want the beta." "Yes, I'll accept that nothing could happen between them, but I want the beta for myself." Valerie said it loudly and clearly for them to hear her well. She knew that her parents would always go to any lengths to make her happy. *** "Pow!" The loud sound of the target board as the arrow hits it. He had been on the field since early in the morning, shooting arrows, but still he couldn't hit the center target. His guards stood behind him as they watched him do archery. They kept wondering if their boss was in a bad mood again. He only does things like that on the weekend when he's not in a good mood. Other weekends, he goes for a run in the morning. "Shit." He cursed as he threw the bow on the floor. "Is there something wrong with this?" He looked back at his guards and asked before one of them quickly gave him another one. He also collected it, but he did not use it; he just kept staring at it. He knew that it wasn't the bow. It was him. He couldn't concentrate. Something that had never happened before, and that was because of that omega. "Bring that omega here now." He commanded, to which the guard also ran out of the field. Back in the house. Amelia had cooked breakfast and served it before eight in the morning. She knew it was the weekend, and she wasn't sure if he would eat so early, but she still prepared breakfast. She waited in the dining room until it was past eight p.m. "Has he gone out?" She asked herself, looking towards the staircase. She would have gone to tell him in the room herself, but she knew that would be trouble. And there was no one she could ask in the house. Still standing where she was, she saw the door open, and a guard walked in. "Come with me. The Alpha is calling you." "What could he be calling me for now?" She asked herself before following the man quietly. She was scared, but still, she just followed the man. She walked behind the man for some minutes, until they got to the field filled with green grass. Something immediately caught her eye as she entered. He was standing on the field with a guard behind him. She walked closer to where he was, with the guard in front of her. "Good morning." She greeted him when she got to where he was, but as usual, he did not reply to her greetings, nor look at her. Instead, he asked. "Where do you think the center target is on the face?" He asked, touching the tip of the arrow in his hands. But Amelia was just looking at him, confused. She didn't even understand what he was saying, but seeing the bow in his hands, she just said something without even thinking. "The forehead?" "Wrong. The tip of the nose." She heard him say, finally looking up at her. "Go sit in that chair." He said this, pointing towards the chair in the middle of the field. She also looked in the direction he was pointing. A chair with a target board behind it. She became so confused. She was confused to the point that she thought he was saying another language she couldn't understand anymore. "I don't understand what you're saying." She couldn't finish her words when she heard them. "Don't waste my time, Omega." At once, fear gripped her. She kept looking at the chair as she walked closer to it, knowing that she didn't have a choice. She went towards the board and sat on the chair placed in front. Different thoughts played through her head as she sat down and watched him take an arrow. "Will he kill me now? This is what you brought upon yourself, Amelia. You asked him to kill you, didn't you? But I don't want to die." She had vowed not to cry in front of him again, but at that point, she couldn't help it. Screaming and going against him, saying that he has no right to kill her, will surely get her killed, with no one or family to look for her. Tears were falling out of her eyes as she started accepting her fate—that she would have to die by her mate's hand. She saw him hold the bow ready to shoot, and at that point she kept crying even more. Seeing the intense evil look in his eyes, she knew she was done for. She kept looking at him, and at any second, she knew he would finally leave the arrow and kill her. A few seconds passed by. It felt like time had become louder and shorter. Just when she couldn't take it anymore, she moved away from the chair, and at the same time, she saw an arrow flying over her head. "Ah!" He had shot it the same second she moved, but luckily for her, it didn't touch her. The arrow hit the center of the board instead, hitting a bullseye. She looked back at the board. Her heart was beating so fast as she thought of what could have happened. "I would have died if I hadn't moved." She thought, as she sat on the floor and cried so loud. She didn't even realize that the man had walked towards her, and was standing beside her. He looked at the board and removed the arrow he had shot before looking back at her. Amelia had also stopped crying; she looked back at him and heard him say it with no emotion in his eyes. "It would be foolish of you to think it was luck." She didn't even know what to say; she just kept thanking her stars she didn't get hit by the arrow. But suddenly, she started feeling weak, and felt like something was about to take over her. Suddenly, she started feeling a rage take over. "I've had enough of..." She couldn't finish her words because of the loud ringtone of Aiden's phone. Aiden also picked up the call, talked to the person and walked out of the field, without looking back at the lady, who was still looking confused on the ground. "What just happened?" She asked herself. She couldn't believe that she was about to scream at him all of a sudden, and after some seconds she became calm.
