Her modelling career was flourishing well until Finn had come with his offer and ruined everything. She knew she was hired due to his magazine campaign, so she wasn't surprised to come across him every busy day at the company. She felt really tired of listening to his orders all the time. There was a time he had stopped one of her photoshoots one beautiful day and ordered her to be sent home for no reason. Another model had to take her place in the photoshoot. Why was that? She never knew because he never told her or spoke about it.
"I haven't heard your response, Miss Helen", He enquired her as she responded his invitation to meet him over at his guest house.
"This is not a simple decision to make. I need time to think about it", she pleaded.
"What more time do you need, madam? I don't think that is necessary. The contract marriage has to be done before my dad thinks of hosting a very big wedding. We have to organize a simple wedding as soon as possible"
"Why me? You could have chosen another model. Why does it have to be me?" She argued.
"Too many questions, Miss Helen. Tooo many questions...huh...boring. Do you want wine?" He asked, pouring out a drink.
"No. I just wish to know why you think i am a good choice for your stupid contract marriage"
"It has a simple answer, Helen. You are a beautiful lady. I knew you would impress my dad. You aren't even a gold digger, as most girls will pose themselves to be. What's not more amazing than that?"
"Even though! I don't wish to marry you or stay under the same roof as you."
"Then kiss goodbye to your job" He laughed maniacally at these words, causing her to see him as evil."You are so stupid aren't you? Just a contract marriage is getting you so worked out. What if my dad forces us to get a real marriage done where the whole press will witness it? Then what? Won't we try to make it work then and perhaps maybe, make some babies..." She got really irritated at the sound of this.
"I hate you so much. Fine. I will accept this marriage contract you request, but please, i hope you don't forget my side of the deal. I want you to evaluate my career. I am not doing this for free."
"Sure Helen. I will also go ahead with opening a modelling agency in your name. How is that?"
Helen smirked on hearing this. She nodded and approached him, pulling out her hand for a handshake.
"Deal?" She asked with her hand hanging in the air. He pulled her towards him instead of ignoring her handshake and moving his face close to hers. Close enough for their lips to touch. She felt her heart leap with fright at this. She hadn't expected him to do this at all. Her hands began trembling in fear and the unexpected happened. She was getting shy. Why was she getting shy at this guy's touch? Who did he even think he was to make her feel weak around him? She knew she had to push him away, but for some reason, she didn't.
"I want us to seal this deal with a kiss", he asked, staring into her eyes. She wanted to refuse but her voice was gone. She had no control over herself. Her lips could barely move. As she went ahead to wrap her hand around his waist, he threw her roughly to the ground and laughed so hard. Tears began dropping out of his eyes as he laughed hard.
"That was a prank. Why would you think I would kiss you? I have so many ladies to do that with intimately. You aren't one of them. Thank God you didn't embarrass yourself by making a move first. It would have been so hilarious to watch you make a fool of yourself. Anyway, it's a deal. I will be introducing you to my whole family this weekend at a party my uncle is throwing. I would want to propose to you in the most romantic manner and your part of the deal is to act emotional. Let the tears flow as girls normally do. Let it be believable", he ordered. Helen said nothing. She seemed very hurt by what he had done earlier. She walked out without waiting to hear any more words he had to say. He got a little confused at her reaction but brushed it off easily. "Whatever"

Helen dropped by at Emily's salon, wondering how long the lady would be mad at her. Emily opened the door and squeezed her face angrily, seeing her. She had let her come in without saying a word to her. Helen watched her as she walked back toward her customer and proceeded with her manicure.
"Emily, why are you angry with me? This is between me and Tristan."
"That's the issue. You're so blinded by your hatred that you don't realize what a good person Tristan is. I have known Tristan longer than you have and I can assure you he is like an elder brother to me. I won't bear it if anyone insults my elder brother the way you did". She finally spoke up. Helen knew she had crossed the line. This wasn't the outcome she wanted. She knew she was very angry at Tristan, but not thinking about Emily's reaction to all this was a mistake she made.
"Emily, i am sorry. I forgot how much he has helped you in the past. The miscarriage…"
"You know what, Helen, i am so happy you left him because, as much as Shalom was a scum, you are also bad news for that gentle guy. I don't want you ever near him again. If seeing you brings about insults he faces, then disappears. Leave him alone. With the way he has helped me so much in the past, i will do whatever it takes to find the perfect girl for him. How wrong i was to think it was you!"
"I didn't mean to offend you, Emily. It just couldn't work out."
"Alright. Just leave him alone", Emily warned, before focusing on her job. Helen wanted to say something else but her phone buzzed and stopped her. She checked out the message on her phone and frowned, realizing it was a message from Finn. He had sent her an electronic invite to his uncle's party. "It's that rich guy, right?"
"Yes Emily. He wants me to meet his family."
"I thought you didn't want to accept him. Have you told him your thoughts?"
"Yes. I offered him a deal and he promised to keep it", she explained.
"Okay then. I just hope you can trust him. I researched this Finn guy. He is a playboy. He will try to get into your pants"
"He won't. He isn't thinking about me that way", Helen disagreed immediately.
"You're sure?" Emily asked. Helen recalled the occurrence of that afternoon and nodded immediately.
"With the way he threw me to the ground today, i don't think he will be seeing me that way anytime soon."
"He threw you to the ground? Why say nothing bae? This is a serious offence."
"He called it a prank but i assure you that he did that on purpose to hurt me."
"Just be careful with him. No one knows him. You can't trust that man."
"I am being watchful"

The party started on a good note. Helen had in mind to try as much as possible not to pay much attention to Finn, but it seemed that wasn't even needed because Finn himself had walked away from her conversing with his friends and forgetting she was even at the party. Several family members stared at her in confusion, wondering who she was because they had never seen her before.
"Who are you?" His grandma asked with her shaky voice as she adjusted her glasses, trying to see her better.
"Hmm….I.." Helen wasn't sure of what answer to give.
"You are? I haven't seen your face around here before. This is supposed to be a family party. I don't think who invited you here. Are you lost?"
"I was actually invited by Finn", she answered, trying to avoid embarrassment.
"Finn? Finn never invites his ladies over. He has a guest house near the beach where he entertains his female guests. Why will he invite you here? You don't seem to look like one of his side girls though. Are you one of them?" The old woman asked. Helen felt really disgusted and embarrassed at this question. What had she gotten herself into? Side girls? Another personal guest house? Really now! This was getting out of hand. She couldn't wait to finish this deal and leave immediately. She sighed with relief as she spotted Finn approaching them with a smile. He hugged his grandma and pecked her lightly on the cheek.
"The most beautiful grandma the world can have" he complimented.
"O! You stop that. My wrinkles don't make me look as beautiful anymore. Who is this young lady here? She said you invited her". Finn turns to Helen and then back to his grandma.
"I haven't introduced her to anyone yet. I was so engrossed in my conversation with Ben. She is my girlfriend Helen", he introduced.
"Helen, my grandma. Mrs Lily" He continued. Helen gave her a smile. The woman was confused now.
"Girlfriend? But you never told us you had a girlfriend."
"That's because i wanted to surprise you, granny. I have been with her for a long time now". He lied. The old woman believed him.
"I never thought you would love him again", his grandma had said with a low tone. This got Helen very curious about finding out what she was talking about. Finn had nervously cut her short immediately and pulled her toward the family dinner table so that they could have dinner with the rest of the family. They both hadn't had a serious conversation since she arrived. As they ate, his dad took everyone's attention to a toast.
"I am making a toast to my only son. Finn, I am so happy you found the right girl". His dad had shown his sincere appreciation for him. The rest of the family roared out happily and began asking Finn why he never told them he had a new girlfriend.
"New?" Helen questioned him about her confusion. He gave her a stern angry stare.
"Mind your business", he warned. "You don't have to pry into my personal life. This is just a contract."
Helen nodded quietly, apologizing for not paying attention to her boundaries. He was right. She shouldn't be bothered about his private affairs.
"No one thought you would ever move on after…"
"Can we go to the reception room now please? This is my uncle's party, not mine", Finn suggested, rudely cutting off one of his aunties who spoke. The rest of the family members agreed and began making their way toward the reception room. As soon as they were all gone, Helen was left alone with Finn in the dining room.
"You do know there is a limit to the information you learn about my family, right? On no chance must you pry into my past or discuss my sensitive affairs with anyone here. I am not your boyfriend. We're just doing this for a deal. Don't you forget your deal", he warned her.
"How can we convince your family that this is authentic if i know nothing about your past or show any awareness of what you love? Don't you think they will suspect?" Helen asked sharply.
"Play smart. I know you can do that. Now come with me, i am ready to make the big announcement". He ordered her and pulled her by the arm into the reception room. The rest of the guests were happily conversing, not paying attention to them. Finn gestured her to pay attention to his lead and walked up toward the stage, approaching the MC. She watched him collect the mic from the man ready to propose, as he had informed her. O! Boy...here goes nothing.
"Before this party continues, I would like to thank someone special who is here at this party today. Helen, I might not have known you well enough, but that doesn't change the beautiful experiences i have had with you. Since you came into my life, things have been different for me. I have been able to look away from the negative and focus on the positive side of things due to your optimistic actions. Since Joyce died, i never thought i would move past that trauma. I never even knew i could love again. Helen, you have shown me the light and i really can't tell you how happy i am to have you in my life". Everyone said an awkward awwwwn, staring at her with smiles. Helen watched, wondering how to react to this. She wasn't even sure if this was an act anymore. He sounded so sincere and authentic. Who was Joyce? Why was he mentioning her in this fake proposal? Why was he causing her so much confusion by being so emotional with his speech? Couldn't he have just proposed and gotten it over with?
"Helen, will you marry me?" He asked, kneeling on one knee toward her direction in the crowd. Everyone focused their attention on her. Knowing she had to do something rather than just stand there like a statue acting heartless, she faked an excited look and nodded immediately, covering her mouth with her hands like she saw them do in the movies. Everyone cheered happily. He went down the platform and immediately slid the ring on her fingers. They both hugged briefly in the most awkward manner ever. Everyone was too excited to notice. Perhaps they thought they were both being shy due to the eyes watching them. During the couple's dance, Finn led her to the dance floor and began dancing with her to a slow romantic song.
"Couldn't you have just cried?" He asked with disappointment.
"I would have if your speech was from your heart. This is all an act. I won't fall for that sweet talk". She assured him with a stern look.
"Even though i made it all up, you should have at least gotten moved a little"
"Who is Joyce?" She asked curiously. Finn wasn't happy with this question. He pulled her close to him and grabbed her arm very tightly, making sure it hurt.
"Her name must never come out of your lips again. I warned you not to pry into my past."
"I am sorry" She apologized, whimpering in pain.
"Don't try me, Miss Helen Jack. I am not nice". He let her go and walked out, leaving her stranded on the dancing floor. Helen walked away from the other couples, trying to hide her embarrassment. She tried as hard as she could to hide the tears that were about to flow down her eyes.
"Calm down Helen. This is temporary. Just keep your distance from him. He isn't your business", she said, hoping to calm herself down.

Helen never told her parents about the marriage contract because she didn't see the need to. Though Emily wasn't mad at her anymore, she could still feel the rift that had occurred between them. Emily never wanted her to talk about Tristan nor did she ever visit her home or buy her gifts. She only calls when she feels the need to. For how long will this go on? Helen wasn't sure how to fight the future battle alone. In a few weeks, she will be entangled with a man she doesn't even love. How would she survive this if she had no one to stand up for her or encourage her during her time of crisis? Perhaps she shouldn't have left Tristan. Thinking hard about this, she realized Tristan had been her saviour in any crisis she found herself in and not Emily. Though Emily tried all she could to help, Helen noticed they weren't even as close as she thought they were. They were close only because of Tristan, who had brought them together in the first place. Now that Tristan and she had a conflict, Emily had no interest in her anymore. The thought of this made her head hurt. Perhaps it is true that you can only know your true friends at a time of crisis.
The day of the marriage contract arrived. Finn had sent one of his drivers to pick her up and drop her at the court without bothering to come over himself. Was he even supposed to come himself? Ignorant her! She had no idea how marriage works. Maybe that was because she never wanted one in the first place. Arriving in court, Finn ordered the wedding to be done immediately and the contract to be signed without any more time wasted. Everything was over within 45 minutes. As soon as they were done, he urged his driver to drop her off at her home, but the lawyer stopped him from going further with this step.
"If you want this contract of yours to be valid, you both will need to live together" He was reminded.
"What if I don't want her to? I barely let any lady enter my mansion", he nagged.
"For now, in the court's eyes, she is not any lady. She is your wife. Every week a person from the court will be visiting your mansion to see how you both live together. You both have to be in the same room and make your marriage believable. It is at this context your dad will hand over the properties to you" The lawyer explained.
"Fine. She doesn't have her things. Let her pack her things first and then come over this evening", Finn gave in with a reluctant expression. He walked out of the courtroom at these words.
"He doesn't like you", his driver whispered to her.
"I just want my part of the deal. That's all", She replied before walking out.

Helen had no other choice but to tell her family the truth as she realized things were going to be different as soon as she left for Finn's. Her parents were not happy with this, nor was her brother, who blamed her dad for every choice she had made.
"It's because you rejected Tristan! That's why she is taking this step". He had let out his frustration.
Her family argument wasn't one of the best situations she wanted to encounter. She hated watching her family argue. As soon as they realized she was really serious about this situation, sighting Finn's driver before their gate, they wished her good luck and escorted her to the car. Her brother didn't bother looking at her as soon as she got into her car, nor did her dad. Only her mother showed concern and made her promise to run home if she faced any problem. Despite her mum's kind gestures, she still knew her mum was very furious at her. Her mum was her mum after all. She would not show her anger to her, but deep down in there she was raging. Helen knew she had lost it all. She had lost everyone. It was left to her now to face this challenge alone.
