Xavier’s Point of View
It was funny until it wasn’t. But OMG, it was hilarious at the time! The nurse at the desk, a gorgeous woman in her 40s, struggled to keep a straight face as Matt explained what we were doing and how our friend ended up here. Thankfully, we hadn't taken our bikes today, and I could drive the four of us to the hospital.
“Just to be clear, the three of you decided to wear garbage bags, soap yourselves up, run, and slide down a grassy hill while your friend filmed this because ….” the hot nurse’s voice trailed off.
“It was free, fun, and at the time didn’t think anyone would get hurt,” Lillianna responded in a bored tone.
“I’m going to get coffee for us. I think it will be a long night,” my best friend sighed.
“Oh, and I like the black dress,” Lillianna grinned, pointing at the nurse’s open laptop beside her.
“I know, right? It’s perfect for my friend. I’m helping her pick out an outfit to celebrate her birthday. Okay, handsome, we’ve got the beautiful lady’s opinion. What do you think?” the hot nurse beamed, turning the screen entirely for me to see the image and description of the dress in question.
I glanced at the computer screen and nodded. The lovely black dress had a corseted body and an iconic voluminous skirt. It featured thick straps and a square neckline, and the body had a dropped V-shape. The dress would subtly accentuate the woman’s figure without drawing overt attention. It was classy yet alluring, and I liked it.
“It’s cute,” I responded with a grin.
“Did you want a coffee too?” Lillianna asked the hot nurse, much to the woman’s surprise.
“No, but thank you, that’s quite kind of you,” she smiled. “My coworker just went to buy us coffee on her break.”
Lillianna winked at me and then left to get Matt, Tom, and me a coffee. My best friend was such a flirt but had a kind heart. I sat down with my friends, waiting patiently for Tom’s name to be called. I was scrolling my socials on my phone when I heard her laugh at the desk, and my heart froze. Slowly, I lifted my gaze to look at Rei and the hot nurse ordering the little black dress I’d just complimented moments before. Rei would look gorgeous in that outfit; her small, curvy body was made for it.
“Hey, gorgeous!” the hot nurse called out while Matt chuckled and elbowed me.
Rei turned crimson and looked like she wanted to hide under the desk. I just laughed and shook my head. You would think she’d be used to attention by now. The woman was breathtaking, even in her hospital scrubs.
“Thanks for the input on the dress. What do you think? Will she look good in it or what?” the nurse smirked at Rei as she called out to me.
“Your friend is beautiful, and anything that graced that amazing body would be so lucky,” I responded with a seductive grin.
The hot nurse bit her lip and shook her head.
“If I were 20 years younger and single, I would climb that man and….” the woman uttered just loudly enough for us to hear and mortify Rei.
Rei's eyes widened as she hastily backed up, aiming to leave swiftly.
Regrettably, she accidentally bumped into her iced coffee, causing it to spill all over the back of her uniform pants. Rei shrieked and quickly bent down to retrieve the cup and wipe the spill. You could see the outline of a g-string and her fine ass with the soaked pants. Almost like we’d rehearsed it, Matt, Tom, and I quickly adjusted ourselves while the hot nurse threw her head back and cackled.
“So you did order them,” the older woman exclaimed in a loud whisper while Rei groaned in embarrassment.
Rei hissed with humiliation, "Mary, please lower your voice."
The sound of Rei groaning didn’t help, and I quickly rose to the occasion.
"Let me get you another iced coffee. I apologize for embarrassing you," I offered as I hurried to the hospital cafeteria.
Lillianna was carrying a tray of coffees as I passed by her.
“Where are you going, X?” she asked, confused.
“I may have embarrassed one of the nurses and she spilled her iced coffee because of it. I’m going to replace it because I feel bad,” I muttered.
Lillianna raised her eyebrows in disbelief but didn’t say anything.
“Would you like me to bring some donuts or something to snack on?” I quickly asked.
Lillianna narrowed her eyes and shook her head no.
Why was Lillianna jealous? We were best friends with benefits occasionally, and she never seemed to care when I was interested in someone.
I purchased a large iced coffee and a package of mini donuts. I intended to offer the mini donuts to Rei and Mary as a peace offering, along with the replacement drink. But when I returned, Rei was no longer there, and my friends were also gone from the waiting area.
“Tom was called in, and your friends went in with him. Your girlfriend left your coffee here for you,” Mary said with a smile.
“I bought the iced coffee to replace the one that spilled and some snacks for you both,” I responded, placing the items on the counter.
Mary’s eyes lit up in delight, and she smiled graciously.
“Your girlfriend is a lucky woman,” the hot nurse grinned.
I looked at her, confused. What girlfriend? Did she mean Lillianna?
“Oh, Lillianna isn’t my girlfriend. She’s my best friend,” I laughed.
No one had mistaken us as being together for a long time. I wonder what gave Mary that impression. She raised her eyebrows and tapped her fingers on the desk thoughtfully.
"Well, Rei plans to celebrate her birthday with friends at the new club on Saturday. I heard her arranging for her eldest to look after the younger ones so she could go. Rei's a kind girl, but she could benefit from someone like you giving her some attention," the attractive nurse mentioned, eyeing me like a tempting treat.
I was accustomed to receiving attention as a handsome man. Standing tall with dark hair, hazel eyes, a muscular physique, and tattoos, I never had difficulty drawing interest from women. However, I struggled to find a woman I wanted a lasting relationship with – none of them compared to Rei.
“She’s gone to change her uniform if you’re wondering where Rei went. The girl is single and has been for years. She’s got kids and baggage but the biggest and kindest heart of anyone I know. But, she could use some fun…” Mary’s voice trailed off as her eyes roamed my body.
I looked down at the hot nurse’s hands and spotted a wedding ring. I sighed internally with relief. I didn’t respond; I just nodded and sat down to sip my coffee while waiting for my friends.
Rei came in a few minutes later and froze like a deer in headlights when she saw me. Her face turned crimson yet again, and she immediately cast her gaze downward and made her way quickly to her seat behind the desk.
“The handsome man bought you a drink to replace the one that spilled and some snacks for us to share. Wasn’t that nice of him?” Mary grinned mischievously.
Rei looked from the drink to me in surprise. Now that I thought about it, she probably wouldn’t drink it. I was a stranger giving her a beverage. For all she knew, I could have put something into it. I wanted to smack myself for not thinking it through.
“Thank you,” Rei said in a small voice and placed it to the side.
“I’m sorry to have embarrassed you. I hope the rest of your evening is less eventful,” I smiled.
“Do we know each other?” Rei asked with a strange look on her face.
“Not that I’m aware of. I’m Xavier, and you are…?” I replied, giving her a chance to introduce herself to me.
“Rei. It’s nice to meet you, Xavier,” she answered with a beautiful smile. “Thank you for the coffee. I’ll save it for later.”
When my friends entered the waiting room, their arrival caused a stir, signaling that it was time to depart. As we left, I noticed Lillianna looking back at Rei worriedly. I waved goodbye, and the nurses smiled at us in response. Rei had the most beautiful smile. It was as if her whole being lit up when she smiled, making her even more gorgeous, if that was even possible. I wished she smiled more.
