Chapter Ten ~ It’s Because We Are Different!

2313 Words
Dexter POV             This girl is so f*****g beautiful. I love the innocent shyness that radiates off her, but I can tell she’s just as feisty as they come.             “I didn’t know we had this lecture together.” Angel said looking at me and I smiled at her acknowledging me. We have had this hour together for three months already, but she is always in class before me, and she sits up front. I like to be out of class before anybody else, so I always sit in the back.             “Yeah, you always get here before me and sit up front. I’m usually the first one out when lecture ends. We have last lecture the same as well.” I said softly.             “Oh, well it’s nice to see you again Dexter.” Angel said then walked to the front of the class and took her seat. As I watched her walk away, I sensed the two guys with her today, just like the three girls with her yesterday, are different. They all give me that safe and secure feeling that Christian used to give me, and these two guys could pass as Christian’s twins or maybe a triplet set.             I was the first one out of the lecture as usual and I waited just outside the door for her to come out. Today, I was going to finally ask her to walk her to her next lecture, I hope she doesn’t look at me like a freak. The girl that she is always hanging out with walks up and stands beside me as we both watch all the others pile out of the classroom until she walks out with the two guys following behind her. They have to be her brothers, I’m sure they are because they all look alike.             “Umm Angel, I was wondering if I could walk you to your second lecture.” I asked her softly and her eyes darted to one of the guys and he was looking at her with concerned eyes.             “I… umm… I don’t think that would be necessary because my brothers Christopher and Cyir are observing today and are walking me.” Angel said softly to me but kept her eyes toward the ground.             I couldn’t take my eyes off her though. Something about this girl draws me in and I can’t help but to feel protective of her. Just like yesterday, the altercation between her friend and my sister, I felt I needed to step in before things escalated. It was Adaline and her friend’s fault, but I didn’t want another week in the dungeon for not protecting Adaline against Headmistress Temple. The last time Adaline started a fight, she was suspended for a week and for that whole week, Daniel made me stay in the dungeon because he said I should have defended Adaline from whatever she was being accused of. It didn’t help matters that I told the Headmistress that Adaline’s friend started the altercation.               “Well, you both know Hope already, so that leaves Dexter. Dexter King, these are my older brothers, Christopher and Cyir Parks, Bro’s this is a new friend actually Dexter King. We met yesterday.” Angel said with a small smile bringing me out of my thoughts and I looked at her brother who both said it was nice to meet me and stretched out their hands to shake mines.             “Nice to meet you fellas also. Angel, all your siblings look so much alike. Your brothers could all pass for triplets because the way I remember Christian he looks just like these two.” I said with a smile, shaking their hands.             “Yeah, we get that a lot. Wait until you meet our parents. We all look like a mixture of the two of them. Not that I’m planning on you meeting them, but they definitely spit all five of us out.” Angel said with a chuckle and the thought of meeting her parents made my face flush slightly, I guess with hope that it may happen one day.             We stood talking a few more minute, when we were done with introductions, we all walked towards Hope’s lecture dropping her off first then to Angel’s second lecture where she and her brothers went inside, and I, continued on to my next lecture. During second and third lecture, I couldn’t stop thinking about meeting her parents. I know it wasn’t an official or real invitation, but I really wish it was. After my third lecture, I went to the library stacks that is usually where I hung out during quad hour. I didn’t really like dealing with a lot of the students at WRA because they all felt like they were above the next person all because they were born into royalty.             I was in the library stacks for fifteen minutes when I hear the sound of her beautiful voice behind me. I wasn’t expecting her to come back here after yesterday but I was hoping she would.             “Umm Dexter, is it possible, my brother’s and I can speak with you?” Angel asked and when I heard her voice, I turned to face her.             “Sure, what’s up?” I asked with a small smile trying to hide my nervousness that she is even talking to me. I don’t think she has ever noticed me until I introduced myself to her and her sister’s yesterday.             “Well, we were wondering, what you are? And if you know what we are?” Her brother Christopher, I believe asked me with an emotionless expression on his face. I was taken back. I didn’t really know what he meant by what I am or if I knew what they were. Truth is, I know I’m different and I can sense they are different also, but I don’t know how.             “I know I’m different, but I can’t say I know what I am. I know Angel is different, but I have no idea what she is or you guys or even Christian is. I could sense he wasn’t like the others that’s all.” I said sincerely.             “Do you believe in supernatural species?” The other brother Cyir asked me, and I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.             “Supernatural species, such as vampires, werewolves, witches? Things like that?” I asked with my curiosity peaked. I had heard that supernatural beings exist, but I didn’t know if I believed it or not.             “Yes, things like that.” Christopher said with a slight smirk on his face.             “Umm… I have heard that they exist but I’m not sure if I believe that they exist or not. Why do you ask?” I said looking at him with more curiosity than before.             “Has anybody ever told you that you run hotter than others, meaning your body temperature?” Cyir asked me and I looked at him strangely.             “Yes, my adopted father Daniel. He says I can withstand colder temperatures because my body temperature runs hotter than normal folks.” I said and both Christopher and Cyir nodded their heads at me.             “I assume he didn’t tell you why your body temperature runs hotter, but I will be honest, our body temperatures run hotter also but you are a good ten to fifteen degrees hotter than us and we run a good ten to fifteen degrees hotter than others.” Christopher said looking at me with a raised eyebrow.             “Why is that?” I asked looking him squarely in his eyes.             “It’s because we are different. We are supernatural and so, are you?” Angel said softly and my eyes snapped to hers which was full of sincerity.             “What do you mean I’m supernatural? I’m not supernatural, I’m just a boy a little different from others. I would know if I was supernatural, wouldn’t I?” I said looking at her strangely trying to comprehend what she just said to me.             “Not necessarily but ask me the question I know you want to ask me now. Ask me what me and my brothers are?” She said softly to me while her brothers stood and watched our engagement.             “What are you and your brothers and what do you and your brothers think I am?” I asked her with slight hesitation in my tone.             “Before we tell you, we are going to need your word that if we are wrong about you, our secret will be safe with you and that you will protect that information at all costs.” Cyir said looking at me sincerely and I nodded.             “You have my word.” I said and looked at Angel as a small smile began to form on her face.             “We are werewolves, Alpha werewolves to be exact but we differ from other Alpha werewolves because human royalty blood courses through our veins also. We are all direct descendants to the Morocco throne. Our mother and father sits on the throne now and my mother’s family has controlled the throne for centuries.” Christopher said looking at me. I could tell they were all expecting a reaction from me, but I honestly didn’t have one.             “Okay, so what do you all believe I am because I know I am no werewolf?” I said looking at him.             “Oh, but you are. You are a tri-hybrid species, three different bloodlines courses through you two of which are supernatural and the third human. One of your bloodlines is definitely wolf it’s the second one that has us stumped. Our parents believe you may be a hybrid fire breather commonly known as a dragon and a rare one to say the least.” Christopher said and my eyes went wide as my mouth dropped.             “That isn’t possible, I would know if that were true.” I said but the look in Angel’s eyes told me this was not a joke.             “Now is the time, I invite you to really meet my parents because after meeting them you will understand that it is possible to not know that you are and what signs that will follow to help you understand what your true species is.” Angel said with a small shy smile.             “Wait a minute, you guys are serious!” I said with a confused expression on my face.             “Very serious and don’t worry, you are not alone in this discovery of yourself.” Cyir said then pulled out his phone calling somebody on FaceTime. I knew the voice as soon as it sounded through the phone speaker.             “Hey Bro, what’s up?” Christian’s voice came through and Cyir turned his phone around towards me so I could see Christian’s face.             “Christian, what can you tell me about this guy?” Cyir asked and a smirk stretched across Christopher’s face.             “Only that his name is Dexter King. He was adopted, by a King who was his father’s best friend, when he was around four or five years old and that he doesn’t know much of anything about his parents except that they are both dead. He’s very smart, loyal, and a very dependable friend. I used to help him in our data analytics class at WRA. He has an adopted sister name Princess Adaline, I can sense supernatural blood in him but not sure what else besides werewolf. His body temperature runs hotter than ours by ten to fifteen degrees and I think he has a crush on my twin.” Christian said looking at me never dropping his eye contact through the video.             “A crush on our sister, you say. What do you mean? What makes you think that?” Cyir asked and Christian chuckled.             “You’re a d**k, Cy! But since you obviously are trying to make a point. He’s very protective of Angel and was always asking me about her until I told him she was off limits. I would guess since I have been done his obsession with her has only grown and his crush has turned more into a possessiveness. Do you fell pulled towards her?” Christian asked me and I looked at him like he grew a third head.             “Yes, I always have I guess but it feels stronger with every encounter I have had with her since yesterday, when I introduced myself to her.” I said looking at Christian on the video screen and he smiled and nodded at me.             “Oh, okay. Thanks Christian, when do you leave for Quantico?” Cyir asked him and he smiled.             “No problem, good seeing you, Dexter. I hope all is working out for you. Keep my twin safe please. Oh, and bro I leave on Friday.” Christian said with a smile, and I nodded at him.             Quad hour was coming to an end, and it was time to get to our fourth lecture by the time we ended the call with Christian.             “I would like to learn more about this. Can we set up a meeting off campus or will you guys be back tomorrow.” I asked Christopher and he looked at Angel.             “Why don’t you and Angel exchange phone numbers and we will contact you later today on what would be better. You really probably should meet our parents; they know more about this than we do.” Christopher said and nodded at Angel as she handed me her phone so I could put my phone number in it.             When I handed her back her phone, she sent a text to my phone.             ‘Angel’ the text said, it was short, sweet, and simple.             After that we all left the library stacks and went to our next lectures.
