“I’ve seen the way you look at me,” I loosened my robe and let the ropes hang on either side of the silk nightwear.
I wore nothing underneath, my dusty pink n****e could be seen from one side and the other poked through the sheer material of my clothing.
I reached out my hands and gestured the stoic man in front of me forward with my dainty fingers, eyes dark with lust and a sultry gaze that could easily beckon my prey.
They were only a few steps away from each other, the room was bigger than I gave it credit for, with a queen-sized bed and a reading table, along with a walk-in closet and a floor-to-ceiling window that revealed the magnificent view of the moon outside, the walls were designed with red bricks and that irritating metallic brown seemed to be an inspiration for every other color in the room, from the sheets to the curtains…to the wood used to make everything.
I hated it.
The guard stood at the entrance of my room—cell, a few inches over six feet and at least a whole foot taller than me…
With a commanding presence and chiseled features, the rugged guard exuded stoic intensity. His tall, muscular frame moved with disciplined grace, broad shoulders, and brawny arms hinting at barely contained power. A stark jawline covered in rough stubble frames his stern mouth, while intelligent eyes the color of steel took in their surroundings, missing nothing. Dark hair cropped close to his head complements the hard planes of his face.
I inhaled deeply and audibly.
Human.
Which was a mistake on their part, putting a human in charge of watching me…the empire had lost its touch.
I want him.
I decided, I gestured him forward again and this time I could see a slight furrow between his brows as he stared down at my beckoning fingers, a crack in that stoic expression of his. His eyes rested on my chest, his gaze almost burning through the silk that barely shielded my bare skin from his gaze.
He wanted me as well.
“Tsk…I don’t get why you’re resisting,” I pouted, “I'm not trying to escape,” I smiled at the man at the doorway whose fists were already clenched at his sides with a restraint I didn’t expect from him.
“Oh, come on…just have a bit of fun with me,” I pouted, taking one slow step forward only to see his hand reach for his sword cautiously which made me laugh out loud and roll my eyes.
“You think that would be able to stop me if I wanted to escape?” I raised a brow in question and took another fearless step forward, my lips stretching into a dimpled, seductive grin as I noticed his hand letting go of the metal hilt and balling into fists at his side again.
I only stopped walking when my face was a breath away from him, his bulge poked my belly, unashamed I reached out my fingers to grab his c**k and squeeze it, letting out a pleasurable hum when I felt the hotness of his breath against my lashes.
“I guess the empire isn’t so bad at picking guards after all,” I smirked, he looked down at me with a hooded gaze, his chest rising and falling unsteadily and his hands reaching up to hold her.
I smacked them away. Hard.
This caused him to curse under his breath and glare at me.
“b***h!” He yelled, I shrugged, not phased by his words in any way, instead, my hands reached for the hilt of his sword before he did, unsheathing it from its scabbard and with lightening speed, nailing the guard to the wall with his sword, a satisfied smirk on my face.
His eyes widened with shock as blood spilled from his lips, he reached for me but, I stepped back and laughed.
“You’re no longer hard?” I chuckled, “That’s a shame,” I clicked my tongue, shuddering as my eyes took in his bleeding state, blood poured from the hold I had created in his belly and his eyes were wide with realization and regret was slowly losing their light.
His skin drained of color as his lips closed and opened, he tried to speak but failed miserably.
“That’s how it felt…” I muttered darkly as I fastened my robe and grabbed the heavy cloak I had set on the reading table beforehand.
“The empire will feel everything they made me feel…” I put on the cloak and double-checked to make sure every button was in place.
“How unfortunate you had to be caught in the crossfire,” I walked back to the man who now had a permanent spot at the entrance and patted his pale cheeks lightly, “In another life…” I leaned in to whisper against his trembling lips, “I would’ve loved to f**k your brains out,” Then I kissed him, his blood staining my lips and the side of my cheek.
“Farewell,” I waved at him one last time before walking out of the bedroom to leave the mansion for the first time in three weeks. The sprawling mansion was easy to navigate through, after all, I had built it to spend the rest of my life in it with my future husband…the Empire saw the irony in putting me here, so they did. No, Damien chose this place, just to spite me.
This was what was supposed to be our matrimonial home.
I smiled as I spotted the front door but it never reached my eyes.
I’ve never truly smiled since that day three weeks ago.
Freedom. I thought.
My heart felt heavy and with a solemn look in my eyes.
After my freedom. Revenge would come next, for every noble, king, queen, prince, beta, and citizen that made the decision to ruin me, to lock me up because of their fears…I will end every single one of them!
I reached for the doorknob and twisted, it clicked open with a slight creak and the cool air of the moonlit night brushed against my skin like a gentle caress. Tendrils of my blonde hair blowing in the same direction as the wind.
“f**k…” I moaned at the feeling, “It’s been so long," My eyes were closed and my heart pounded loud and hard in my chest.
I didn’t have time to think about why the doors weren’t spelled and I could leave the building contrary to the past few weeks I'd tried to.
All I knew was that it also meant the woods weren’t spelled. I could leave without any restrictions. Only tonight. It had to be tonight!
When I opened my eyes, they were a bright golden color, I felt my claws elongate and the fine hairs of my skin increase by a fraction. But then again, that was all I could manage if I wanted to heighten my senses.
All that was left was a ghost of the power I used to have. But it is more than enough.
It was the empire’s mistake, leaving their supposed strongest warrior to watch me…a human. Just one man.
I fought the urge to laugh out loud as I walked, stalking my way through the dark woods that surrounded the mansion with a smirk.
They underestimated me and that would be their doom.
Once I was close to civilization, I would get a carriage and leave the continent.
No doubt the daemons or fae would be more welcoming. Then I will get my wolf back and then, it will be reckoning…for everyone!
My feet slowed.
Someone was here!
I stopped in my tracks, a shiver running down my spine as the foreign scent of someone unknown drifted into my nostrils.
I breathed in.
Not one, two—no…three.
Dangerous.
How did they get so close even with my heightened senses and most importantly, I couldn’t tell what they were, not human, that was for sure.
They could mask their scents. That was something only the strongest beings could achieve.
Fuck!
So close.
I turned around slowly, my hands lifted over my head in mock surrender, and to my utter shock, azure eyes that glinted like the shards of a winter sky stared back at me, The man's lithe slender body moved with preternatural grace, and his tousled white hair breathtakingly handsome face did almost nothing to hid the ancient cunning in his icy eyes.
No. This was no man.
He had no heartbeat. No blood flowing through his veins.
“Greetings, Luna of Midnight,” His voice was as rich as the soil in Midnight, smooth and mellifluous with a lilting yet mischievous quality, his honeyed tenor lightly accented from languages that seemed to have been acquired over centuries
When did he get so close?!
His captivating polite smile was one of innocence, his hands were behind his back conveying a look of refined masculinity.
He wore a high-collared white shirt topped with a stark black ascot tie tucked neatly into a burgundy vest that accentuated his trim waist. Over this was an expertly-tailored frock coat in dark charcoal wool, nipped at the waist to highlight his athletic frame. The coat sleeves came down to crisp cuffs embellished with silver cufflinks that peeked out. His slate grey trousers were pressed into clean lines, added with polished black leather boots. A noble. I thought to myself as my eyes took in the man in front of me.
He bowed, “My name is Oak Perseus,” He politely introduced, “And the man on my right is called Flynn King,”
Man?
What man on his right?
All I could see were smoldering emerald eyes staring back at me, they rooted me to the spot and made my lips part…an attempt to get more air into my poor lungs. Whatever it was, it stood behind the bushes, waiting…eyes glinting.
“The man on my left…”
A low growl drifted into my ears, a large red-furred werewolf stared back at me, his fangs bared and menacing brown pupils made my knees quake…not from fear but from something else entirely, the look in his eyes was so raw, enthralling.
“…not exactly man,” The blond man chuckled, “His name is Elias II,” He said, azure eyes with a magnetic gaze that weakened her.
“We were sent by the empire,”
Sent by the empire? So they didn’t underestimate me after all.
They really were bent on trapping me here!
“We are your newly assigned guards,” The man without a heartbeat announced.
Guards. Jailers.
I put my hands down slowly as I looked at every one of them, my lips twitching and slowly curling up into a grin.
Well. I'll. Be. Damned.
“Welcome,” I smiled, “I think we're all going to have a whole lot of fun,”
The blue-eyed man laughed, a glint of surprise and amusement in those depths. He crossed his arms over his chest and took a step back, each scent finally drifting to my nostrils as they dropped their guards.
Vampire.
Werewolf
Lycan.
“I look forward to it,” Oak said.
