EIGHT YEARS AGO… The orange candlelight cast long shadows across the homey but luxurious room. I stood before the ornate mirror, my fingers tracing the mark that now rested upon my neck. The sting of it was unfamiliar, yet thrilling. With each passing moment, I felt the power it represented seeping into my very bones. The buzz of the connection to everyone who surrounded me. I, Akari, was now the Luna of Midnight pack. The thought sent a shiver of excitement down my spine, and I couldn't help but let out a soft laugh of pure joy. Gone were the days of practicing my picture perfect smile and putting my head down when every stupid decision was made. No longer would I be just another face in the crowd. I was the leader now, the one to whom all others would look for guidance and strength
