A Few Moments Earlier: Pain radiated through La’Rue’s shoulder, but she ignored it. Silent curses ran through her mind as she simultaneously reached for the stun rod lying in the mud next to her and pulled the pistol from the holster at her side. She had seen the movement a split second too late.
