Kiss of the South The band struck up the chords to a lively waltz and couples dressed in their finest twirled around the dance floor. Others mingled off to the sides, the gala turning out to be quite the affair. Wine and champagne flowed. Delicious treats passed by on silver platters. Joseph Calder had never witnessed such a party, and he tried not to get caught up in the hoity-toity festive mood. It wasn’t really his scene; although, he had absolutely no problem imbibing his fair share of the bubbly stuff.
