Chapter 8 The sights, sounds and smells of the village were very familiar to Robert as he and Red Horse walked to meet Blue Jacket. He was dressed in deerskin leggings and a breechclout. He wore a beaded vest and moccasins. These, too, reminded him of his youth. Although that time of his life had been difficult, he felt as if he belonged here; something he had never felt in his boyhood. As he walked by the men and women of the village, he could sense they were accepting of him. Aside from his short hair and lighter skin, he looked like one of them. He felt proud.
