Chapter 3

588 Words
“Phew,” Derrick whistled through his teeth. “Anybody know who that gorgeous hunk of man-meat is?” Ned and the others looked up from their beers and conversation. “No,” Ned said, “but I’m gonna find out,” and started to get up. “Hold onto your nuts, big boy,” Derrick laughed, putting his hand on Ned’s shoulder and pushing him back into his chair. “I saw him first. I got dibs.” Ned groused good-naturedly, “Okay, but if you strike out…I get the next shot.” The other guys at the table laughed. Without further hesitation, Derrick rose from his seat. “‘Scuse me,” he said to his colleagues and headed in the direction of his intended conquest. As he got closer to the man, his heart was pounding in his chest, uncharacteristic for him. Once he arrived at the bar next to the place where his target had parked himself Derrick lost his nerve. This, too, was unlike the confident, handsome, Derrick Fredricks, who rarely had any difficulty initiating or consummating pick-ups. He stood at the bar—looking down at his hands—at a complete loss for an opening statement. He suddenly felt completely out of his element. He couldn’t believe this. “Hi, I’m Cooper Jenison,” said the handsome man, extending his hand. Derrick took the hand in his. The connection was immediate and intense. There are those dividing moments that change a person forever. Once they occur the life is divided into before and after. For Derrick this was that moment. From now on everything would be referenced into before Cooper and since Cooper. For a few seconds Derrick didn’t say anything. He stood holding Cooper’s hand in his, staring into soft brown eyes, basking in the radiation of the warm inviting smile. His immediate thought was to say, ‘I love you.’ But, he was so astonished at the idea he merely said, “I’m Derrick.” Three hours later they lay on the floor of Cooper’s rustic cabin in front of a roaring fire in the free standing fireplace, sharing in the afterglow of great s*x. They were on a blanket Cooper had spread on the floor, facing one another, each leaning on a hand and a crooked elbow. Their legs were still intertwined. “So, you graduated from the U of M, too,” Cooper said. “What year?” When Derrick told him, Cooper said, “Man, we were on campus at the same time. Too bad we didn’t meet then.” “Seems like we wasted a few good years,” Derrick said, leaning forward and kissing Cooper, sliding his tongue into the waiting mouth and experiencing the thrill of being once more united with a man that was capturing his heart. “We could try to make-up for it, couldn’t we?” Cooper said, kissing him back. “I’d sure like to try,” Derrick responded after the kiss was finished, “but living as far apart as we do…” Cooper caressed Derrick’s face, ran his fingers through his hair, around his neck and down his chest. “Do you love me?” “What?” Derrick responded, caught by surprise. Cooper chuckled, “I asked you if you loved me, cause I’m pretty sure I am in love with you. I know its kinda quick, but…well…do you love me?” Derrick took a deep breath. He closed his eyes and tried to examine his feelings. It was no use. There was no logic here. Opening his eyes he looked deeply into those of the man who lay next to him. “Yes, I do. I do love you.” “Then love will find a way,” Cooper said, kissing him again. Cooper turned away from him, pressed himself against Derrick’s still erect c**k and raised his leg. Easily Derrick slipped within the confines of his body and was lost in the ecstasy of union. However illogical or improbable this situation was, he abandoned himself to it. It would work out somehow, someway. Right now all that mattered was that he was one with this wonderful human being…
