My head forgot how to beat for a few seconds after Freya told me Dennis was cheating.
“What? Where? When? How?” That and more questions fought in my head as I quickly drove down to her house. I didn’t even know what to think. I knew I had to see her and get to the root of it all. I needed to know everything she knew, so I could know the next step to take.
“I couldn’t see the lady’s face. Dennis’ back was blocking my view, all I knew was he was with someone.”
“What about pictures? Did you take any? You know I might know the lady, and we’ll know what to do from there.” That was my own concern.
All her other talks about satisfying him only for him to cheat and betray her, weren’t any of my business. That was between her and Dennis. All I needed to know was if she had evidence.
“No, I didn’t take pictures. The thought didn’t even cross my mind until I confronted him when he got back home, and he denied it. It was his words against mine, since I had no proof.” She retorted and then burst into tears while I let out a deep sigh of relief.
For the first time since I walked into the house, my mind was finally at rest.
No pictures, no proof. My secret was safe!
She had no idea I was the lady she saw Dennis with.
“How could we be so careless?” I didn’t know I was thinking out loud, until I heard Freya’s voice.
“What did you say?” She asked, while I quickly reached for her hand again.
“Nothing. I was just thinking about everything you said about Dennis. It’s so surprising. He doesn’t even look like someone who could cheat. Even with the way he acts around other women, I would have thought he wasn’t into girls if I didn’t know how much he loves you.”
“I know right. I thought so too. Dennis was so sweet on me when we started. He showed me what true love is. He loved me with all his heart and never fails to show it.” She chimed in while I rolled my eyes when she wasn’t looking.
“Of course , I know. He’s a deep lover. So what are you going to do now? I’m so sorry you’re going through this.” I chimed in.
“Oh no, please don’t be sorry. It’s not your fault.”
“But it is, I matchmade you two. If I knew he was going to hurt you like the other ones, I wouldn’t have done that.” I quickly cut in while she shook her head.
“It’s not your fault. There’s no way you could have known.” She insisted, while I then pulled her into an embrace, gently patting her on the back while she continued sobbing.
“It’s going to be fine.”
“So what do you plan on doing now?” I quizzed while I slowly released her.
“I don’t know… I’m still thinking.”
“But you said you had already confronted him and he denied it. What else can you do? And you know how much he loves you, I would suggest you take things slow, you know. Get to the root of the matter before making any decision.” I let out while she quickly pulled away from me and, seeing the fierce look on her face, I could tell she was about to unleash some anger on me.
“Get to the root of the matter? What other root is there to get to after seeing him with my own eyes? He was kissing her, they were tongue deep in each other’s throats!”
“Tell me, where were you last night?” I jerked in my seat when she asked me this.
“What?” I exclaimed.
“I wanted to call you last night, but I didn’t know if you were available. Where were you?” I relaxed when she repeated herself.
“I was at home in bed, sleeping.” I affirmed.
“You know what? Let’s just forget this. You’re obviously getting worked up, and I don’t like that. You’re not feeling well so you need a lot of rest and care, which is why I am here.” I quickly changed the subject.
“Have you eaten?” She didn’t answer me, but I already know the answer.
“I will take that as a no. Wait here, I’ll get you something to eat.” I retorted and then disappeared into the kitchen.
Getting her a plate of breakfast was real easy since the fridge was full. I pushed the tray on the table in front of her and waited till she took the first bite before I grabbed my phone and excused myself.
“I need to use the bathroom real quick. Will you be fine here by yourself?” I asked.
“Of course, it’s my house after all…”
I rolled my eyes when she said this.
She’s so full of herself and always quick to rub her wealth in people’s faces. It’s not even her money. I mean, if her father wasn’t a billionaire, we would be on the same level. Heck, I would even be better than her. I’m a hard worker, and I’ve worked hard for every dime I’ve earned in my life.
Freya? A lazy, entitled brat who thinks the whole world revolves around her pretty face!
That’s why she keeps trying to buy love with money, but the men keep dropping her every minute. I would too if I were a man. No one wants a woman who constantly reminds them she’s richer!
“B*tch ass!” I spat in the sink and turned on the tap. I went back into the room and sat at the dressing table, staring in the mirror with rage while my phone rang.
“Honey?” Dennis' voice sounded over the phone and, just like that, my anger dissolved like salt in the water.
“How are you doing this beautiful morning? I missed you. Last night still rings in my head. Want to meet again tonight?” He asked and I found myself blushing sheepishly. But then, I quickly snapped out of it. This wasn’t the time to slack or make more mistakes.
“I would love that too, but we can’t. We are in deep sh*t!” I let out.
“What? What deep sh*t?" He quickly asked.
“Freya knows! She knows we are together!”
“What?”
“Well, she doesn’t know that we are together or that you’re with me, but she knows that you’re seeing someone else. She followed you to the hotel last night and saw you and I making out!”
“What? She did what?”
“Okay, she didn’t exactly see us together. She only saw you but didn’t see my face, so she doesn’t know you were with me. She only saw you were with a lady and then ran out.”
“F*ck f*ck f*ck!!! That was why she confronted me last night. I was surprised too, she has never done such before, so I was shocked, but I felt she was just being the entitled brat that she is! F*ck!! I had no idea she already caught me!”
“Just relax, she has no proof so we need to think of a way out very fast. I’ve tried to probe her to know if she has any plans, but I don’t think she does.” I let out.
“She’s stupidly in love with you and I don’t think she’s done with you yet. You just need to find a way to get her back right where you hooked her. And you need to do that fast,” I said firmly.
“Yes, you’re right. I need to play this right and I know exactly what to do. You’re home with her, right?” He asked.
“Yeah, I came right away after she told me. I was so scared, I just had to come find out things for myself.” I affirmed.
“Good! Make sure she doesn’t have any time to herself. She’s not really smart but sure overthinks a lot. She might figure things out if she’s left to think deeply, so make sure to keep her on her toes throughout the day. I mean, talk to her and make sure she doesn’t have any free time to think about it.” He ordered, and I felt my feelings aroused for a second there.
I like it when he gets bossy. It turns me on a lot.
“Sure, you know you can trust me on that. I’m going to find out everything she knows and plans to do. Just make sure you come up with a solid plan. We are close to our goal now, we can’t afford to forfeit that because of silly mistakes.” I asserted.
“I’m going to sort it out.” He affirmed and then hung up.
That was weird, he never ends the call without kissing me, but I understood he was probably distracted because of the news I just gave him. I was too, when I heard.
I hadn’t finished that thought when my phone rang again.
“I forgot to kiss you.” He let out and then the muaahh sound came, sending cold shivers down my spine.
He hung up afterward while I sat there smiling at the screen…
