Chapter 3

I'll find you

Damien

As Frankie's singing faded and  the boats were swallowed by the night swallowed I sighed. The cold ocean air pinched my chest and the loss was like a thousand tiny cracks in my soul. I waited for years for someone who would save me and she did so many times, now for the first time, when she really needed protection I let her down. I howled and my voice almost cut the silence of the night. I could feel the anxious look of my friends on my back but no one said a word.  My thoughts were disturbed by my parents mind-link.

" Son are you okay? We heard you howl. - He said and I heard that my father's voice was worried.

- Actually no, the rest of the rouges kidnapped Frankie. 

- We will find her my baby! I won't let anyone hurt my daughter in law. - This was the first time when my mother mentioned Frankie like part of our family and this warmed a little my frozen heart. 

- I'll send immediately a search party. Where are you know? 

- We are at the cliff, in a minute we'll go back to the house and I'll join the search. " I turned and walked slowly into the ocean until it  swallowed  me, then  I shifted  and began to swim ashore. I heard two loud splashes and I knew Adam was following me with Fanny. When we got ashore we shook ourselves. The water flew off our fur like millions of tiny pearls and shone in the light of the full moon. I began to run back to our Pack house and they followed me during our run Adam mind-linked me.

" What are your plans Damien? - Fanny joined our conversation.

- I'm sure something crazy like always. - This painted a little smirk on our faces. Yes normally my plans were crazy, dangerous but the worked.

- My father is sending now a search party to find the rouges old hiding place. We go home and I'll join them.

- We are coming as well.-  Adam growled. - They will pay for this! - We ran back to the pack house and shifted back into our human forms. I saw my mother helping with Kata for the wounded fighters and calming down the children. I always adored my mother's kind heart, she protected all pack members like they were her own children. While I was growing up we had several fights with other packs before my parents managed to make peace with them and they all became allies. Whenever I saw her shift and fight it was incredibly difficult for me to imagine that she was a simple human and not a werewolf all her life. She heard us arrive and glanced up for a second. She checked us from head to toe and sent me a sad smile than continued to bandaging one of our fighter's arm. Adam and Fanny went ahead to the house but we noticed Alice sitting on the stairs of the porch. Adam walked to her, put a reassuring hand on her shoulder,Alice looked up at her son and squeezed his hand then smiled. Adam smiled at her and gave to Alice a kiss on the top of her head, then walked in with Fanny hand in hand to change and grab some food. I was about to follow them but Alice's strange look worried me. I sat next to her and we just stared into the forest for long moments. She didn't looked at me just said in front of her.

- I'm so sorry Damien. - I sighed and smirked a little.

- It's not your fault and you did more than enough for everybody. - Alice was always a strong and fierce woman but now my godmother looked devastated and lost. I embraced her with my right arm putting it on her shoulders. She smiled a little and tried to keep herself together. 

- Whats wrong? I know that this is not just about my mate. Something happened with Eric? - She shook her head.

- No he is perfectly fine and Mathew as well. They are with your father at his office calculating the damages and how they will repair them, The golden pack left a few minutes before you arrived. - She said and I rolled my eyes.

- Don't try to avoid my question. Why are you so blue? - She looked at me and her eyes showed such a deep sorrow that it scared me a little.  

- I hate to be a monster Damien. It was centuries ago that I killed someone by this way. Kata is lucky she can separate her vampire self from the rest but I can't. I see what they fear of, all their memories when I touch them and I know that Tantrum was a son of a b***h but a living creature also. - I squeezed her next to me and she snuggled a little under my shoulder. I could imagine how difficult this was for her. I felt Frankie's feelings and they sometimes almost broke me in pieces for Alice is hundred times worst. That moment my mother walked to us she was crying and Alice started to cry as well. I let her go from my embrace and they hugged each other. My mother said.

- Thank you and I'm so sorry... - For her it was just as difficult to kill as it was for Alice.

- Ariel,  my condolences for Aurora...- When Alice said my little sister's name my heart clenched and I felt a tear running down on my cheek as well, I remembered  about my father and Tantrum's conversation before his death...

" - Your brother and you tried to kill my father, your niece was after my wife and now you came back with the other niece to kill my son?! - Tantrum grinned at my father.

- Don't forget to mention that we killed your little daughter! - The world got dizzy around me and fury take over control I started to punch him in his chest. I heard how his bones was breaking but that psychopath was laughing. He opened his mouth again and said. 

- Oh and your son's mate is also dead. Now we are equals. You are just as miserable as I'm. " - A shiver ran along my back and I shook a little then payed ma attention back to my mother and godmother. My mom had a bitter smile on her face.

- I know Alice. Until today I had hope that she is alive but after this...- She sighed and I got up and hugged them both. - Alice  I know how bad this was for you, I'll never be able to thank you. - Alice stopped crying and she held my mother by her shoulders and stared seriously in her eyes.

- Ariel, I would do it again a million times if that would help you out, and don't be silly! You gave me and for Kata more than we dreamed of. We were completely alone for centuries, without friends or a family and when we met you we got a sister. When you got married to Ryder you drove us to our mates and now...We both have what we have just been dreaming of. A family, beautiful children and loving husbands. - My mother smiled and they hugged again. Kata walked to them and shouted.

- Group hug!- They started to laugh like teens when she throw herself on them and got both Alice and my mom into an enormous bear hug. I laughed at them and left them alone on the porch. As I walked back to my room to change I met with Tom. His clothes were teared in some places due to the fight. His short hair stood up on his head like he have been hit by electricity but this was just his usual look. His brown eyes always shined with a naughty, mischievous shine. His brown beard reached only slightly below his chin and he lifted his thick eyebrows at me when he saw my troubled face. He hit my back and smirked.

- Don't worry little pup! We are going to kick their asses and bring you back your little mate before you can pronounce  Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft. - His tongue tangled while he tried to say the word. His father was a German solider who left his mother when Tom was just 5 years old but he knew German perfectly. I had to guffaw at the word and lifted my eyebrows at him  reproachfully.

- Are you trying to cheer me up with this metaphor? That was a f*****g difficult word! - He laughed at me.

- It seems difficult but once you have the knowledge it will be as easy as the ABC. - He walked away whistling and shifted outside of the house. I looked after him for a moment then ran to the kitchen, gabbed a sandwich and while I eat it I ran to my room and changed. * Tom is a good friend I hope he will find a mate soon* My wolf said. Me too buddy. Tom was already 36, he had several girlfriends throughout the time I knew him but none of them was the One. This thought made me remember of Frankie. I already missed  her smile, the way she looked at me, in her eyes I always  the man I wanted to become and I knew that b her side I'll be that person. She drove me crazy with her sweet dewy tulips and sea salt scent, the first time I heard her laugh it became my mission to bring joy to her life. That sound is the most wonderful symphony of the world. I  remembered how we first kissed it felt like ages ago and it was just yesterday. One thing is sure, since I met her my life became full of adventures. I quickly changed and jumped out of my window to join the searching party. Matthew, Tom, Adam, Fanny were already there with a few other pack members. My father from the porch said.

- Thank you all for helping us. We must find Frankie Mason, she is your future Luna , my family's and your pack's future is in your paws. - All the members bowed in front of my father and I saw the determination in their eyes, I looked into my mother's eyes and she mouthed. " Sok sikert fiam! " ( Good luck my son  in Hungarian. I nodded to her and barked saying thanks. After that my father howled and all our pack howled with him, then we ran into the deep dark forest to find our enemies and my love.
