We all crowded about the entrance and watched the white wolf lope out of the woods. The canine stopped a few feet away and transformed into Bonnie. I couldn’t help but watch that slow change from beast to man. The fluid transformation of paws to hands, the shrinking of fangs to teeth, and the change in the eye color from a brilliant yellow to her natural blue. Something about the change stirred inside me a desire to see this strange adventure to the very end, no matter what.
“Bonnie!” It was the ogress who gave the cry. She stampeded through us and raced up to the she-wolf.
