CYPRUS
The wind was with the small fleet as they sailed from the island city of Tyre. Captain Uttar commanded the vessel with ease, although seven years had passed since he was last at sea. Their craft set pace for the others, and Uttar ordered long easy strokes on the oars until the sails overtook them. Elissa looked steadfastly ahead, while Anna stole glimpses over the stern of her rapidly receding world.
As a young man, Uttar learned sailing from his father, Himilco, master of the Chanani ships under the last of the four brothers, King Ithobaal I. They sailed together across the Great Sea, through the pillars of Melqart, into the Sea of Atlas, and northward to the tin mines of Britain.
