73. An Unexpected Guest

Diana’s eyes opened wide with shock and her lips parted, as the name slipped so smoothly out of her mouth. “Adrian…” Diana stood stunned finding Adrian standing by her doorstep. He also looked lost but not as surprised as Diana. In fact, he looked as if he was muddled, confused wondering about his next step and he definitely looked worried as well, as deep lines appeared on his forehead and he felt completely blue and confused, anxious to even wonder what his next step should be. It had been three days since he had become a ghost ever since the whole theater debacle happened. Diana still hadn’t processed the whole trauma yet and had not gotten the chance just yet to talk to Gloria. She had been ignoring Tony deliberately at work and he himself didn’t seem much enthusiastic to talk to Diana, as he also didn’t show any eagerness or excitement to talk to Diana. Gloria and Emily both had reprimanded Diana quite vigorously and knowing her nature, they knew very well that Diana would go ahead and try and sort things out with Tony and Bernard more. But they had firmly told Diana to not go and talk to Tony on her own. He was wrong for what he did to her and the way he tried to smear her character, siding with Bernard, who also did not show any repercussions or regret towards his behavior or try and apologize to Diana on his own. She had decided to let things take its time and let the course of the events go on for a while, as she had thought that Adrian was finally out of the picture and that he wouldn’t show up in her life and once things would cool down and go back to normal, she would go back to live her normal life where she wouldn’t have to even think about Adrian and just like everything was prior to Adrian had shown up, the mark that he left on her life but she learned to live forgetting about it, she wished to return back to that old routine of hers. But all of her plans went down the drain when Adrian shamelessly showed up at her doorstep. Diana only groaned in agitation and crossed her arms across her chest, as she realized that he had probably showed up just to ask for another chance. “Again?” she stated and Adrian bit his lower lip in regret, as he tried to sort the mess that he was in but he seemed to be pushed in to a slump at that moment. He lifted his finger and tried to gesture back and forth when Diana rose her hand at him and prohibited him from speaking any further. “Enough! Not a single word. I am tired of you showing up at the least expected moments and taking me completely by surprise and then I am left with nothing to say. And you continue to talk and speak. You speak so much and say a lot and you never listen to me. I never get to say anything.” Adrain sighed, as he dropped his hands down in defeat and shrugged at Diana. “Fine! say whatever you want to!” -------------------------------- Thank you for always reading and supporting my work <3
