Pain. The pain was all I felt. Everywhere in my body. Even breathing was very difficult and I tried to take slow shallow breaths, looking around the dimly lit room painted white. Blandness greeted me before my eyes landed on a nurse writing something on her chart. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out, not a single noise. Throat parched like sandpaper, I cleared my throat to gain her attention, and I succeeded as she looked over at me in surprise and then came to tend to my needs. "Great you're awake." As much as I liked her chirpy soul, at that moment her squeaky voice irritated me to no hell. "Do you need anything? Or should I go call the doctor?"
