"Honey! You don't want to be late for school, do you?!" my mother yelled. "Hey, Jordan," my older brother, Joshua, shook me awake. "Before she gets angrier, let's just get up." "Why can’t she just go to work and leave us alone like usual? She can barely keep a job," I snapped. "Jordan and Joshua Walker! If you're not out of that house in—" "But mom, we're already up! You just need to go!" I shouted. "And you better not be late! I’m not in the mood to come to school during the day because of your behavior, Jordan," she retorted before leaving. "Just one more year, Jordan, then you can leave this place," Joshua said. "Yeah, where's dad when you need him?" I sighed. "Jordan, get up! I have to go to work soon," he said, pushing me off the bed, and I fell hard. "But you were supposed to go to college…" "Yeah, but mom messed it up and spent my college money. I’ll make sure she doesn’t touch yours," he promised. I stood up. Joshua and I shared a room like we did at our last home, an apartment in New York. I didn’t mind; we were close and shared secrets during pillow talks or when mom was out late. "It’s my first day at school. What should I wear?" I asked Joshua. "Always making first impressions, huh? Wear something attention-grabbing but not too revealing," he winked. "I don’t want you getting a boyfriend before the week is over." "Trust me, I’m not dating anytime soon. I learned my lesson last time," I sighed. "Remember how close I came to jail time?" Joshua reminded me. He nearly killed the guy who broke my heart, which made him protective, having been a player in high school. °*°*°*° I have to admit, I have a great figure thanks to my mom. I inherited her light brown hair and electric blue eyes but got dad's height, nose, and personality. I slipped on a short denim skirt, a grey tank top, and a jacket, paired with black heels. My hair is naturally curly, so I took it out of a bun and put on red lipstick. My cleavage showed since I have big breasts. "Wow, sis, you look like a heartbreaker," Joshua said as I walked into the kitchen. "That's because I will be," I smirked. "Go show them who's boss." We fist-bumped. "I'll pick you up at 3:15. If I don’t see you, you’ll walk home," Joshua said as he dropped me off in front of the school. "Whatever you say," I replied, flipping him off. We exchanged challenging glares with our matching electric blue eyes before he drove off. I turned around, head held high, and strolled toward the school. Some boys were already checking me out as I passed. "Am I dreaming, or was that the hottest girl I've ever seen?" "She's new; we better get her before he does." "Hell no, he's with that Harper girl. I think we're safe to make our move." "But she'll have to choose, and of course, it'll be me." "In your dreams; it’s obviously me." I smirked, enjoying their chatter as I moved out of earshot. By third period, everyone would be talking about the new hot girl. I walked up the stairs, pushed open the double doors, and entered the school, all eyes on me as my heels echoed against the tiles. "Hey, I'm James. What's your name?" a guy with dark brown hair and silver-grey eyes approached me. "None of your business," I snapped, pushing him aside. "Damn, that was hot. You totally rejected him," his friend laughed. A dark-haired guy and a reddish-brown-haired girl were making out by some lockers. Ugh, I hate seeing that, so I quickly walked past. "Here's your schedule, sweetie. You have until the end of the week to change classes," a woman said, handing me my schedule and locker password. "Thanks," I smiled and looked at my paper. First period: Home Economics—one of my favorites. I bumped into someone while turning around. "Sorry," I muttered, looking up into a pair of chocolate brown eyes. "No, it's my fault," he said, shaking his head. "What's your name, hot stuff? I never forget a pretty face," he smirked. This guy must be a player; he has a big ego. "None of your business," I snapped. "I'll make it my business, babe. By lunch, I'll know your name; there’s talk about the new hot girl I've been dying to meet." "Well, you’ve met me. Now I have to get to class." "I'm sure you don't know where it is. Let me escort you. It's the least I can do," he said, checking his schedule. "Just escort me, and that's it. If you think I'll be hooking up with you, think again." "Oh, sweetheart, I don't have to hook up with you; soon you'll be begging me to." I highly doubt that. We left the office together when a brown-haired girl approached us. "Hey, Dan, you didn’t call me back last night," she frowned. "Um... Maya, right?" he asked, and she nodded. "Look, it was a one-night thing, okay? Remember, no strings attached." Hurt flashed in her dark brown eyes as she screamed, "I hate you!" and slapped him before running away. "Damn," I laughed. "Yeah, that comes with being a guy who sleeps around for pleasure," he shrugged. I saw the girl crying into her friend's shoulder, who glared at Dan.
