“Hey Jordan,” Harper called as I exited the building.
“What?” I turned to face her.
“Be careful of Daniel; he can ruin you.”
“Just like he ruined you?”
“Look, I’m not the enemy; I’m just giving you some advice. By the way, are you still on for Friday night?”
“Yeah, sure,” I nodded.
“You're a nice girl; don’t let Daniel destroy that.” She turned on her heel and left.
“What did that b***h want now?” Daniel scoffed.
“She warned me about you. Damn, what did you do to those girls?”
“Slept with them, no strings attached,” he shrugged.
Ugh, he treats girls like garbage. It’s time he learned his lesson.
“Are you coming to the party on Friday?” I asked.
“Hell yeah, I’m the party king. I can pick you up if you want.”
“Sure,” I said, kissing his cheek just as my brother pulled up.
“Get in, squirt!” he shouted.
“Gotta go. See you tomorrow, Danny,” I said, skipping away.
“Who's the heartbreaker?” Josh asked.
“Daniel. I think I’ve got the perfect guy who’ll give him a taste of his own medicine soon,” I grinned.

Friday
Tonight was the party, and I was excited to put my plans into action. All week, Daniel had flirted with me nearly every time he saw me, and I met some of his friends, one of whom was my neighbor.
“I’m staying out late tonight, so you guys are on your own for dinner,” Mom said.
“What are you going to do, sleep with your boss like you usually do?” I asked, causing Josh to choke on his drink.
“Jordan, my personal life is none of your concern. Watch your mouth, or you’ll regret it,” she warned.
“Just go, Mom; I’ll take care of this,” Josh said.
“Kids these days have no respect. Jordan, I expect you home by 12:30, or you’ll sleep on the streets.” I heard the front door slam.
“Get to school, squirt, and tell your new boyfriend to pick you up later,” he tossed my jacket at me.
“He’s not my boyfriend,” I snapped.
“Yet… but when he is, he won’t know what's hit him.” My brother smirked.
When I reached school, I met Madison and Carmella.
“Hey guys,” I greeted as I approached them.
“I heard you’re going to that party with Daniel tonight,” Madison said.
“Yeah, I was invited,” I nodded.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Carmella frowned.
“Oh, believe me, it’s necessary. By the way, where’s Maya?”
“Here she comes,” Madison pointed behind me. I turned to see Maya in high-waisted denim jeans, a black crop top, and heels. Her brown hair was in a high ponytail, and her makeup was just right.
“Wow, Maya, who are you trying to impress?” Carmella joked.
“I’m going to show Daniel what he’s missing and hopefully get Eric's attention,” she said, blushing.
“Eric? You mean the guy with golden blonde hair and—”
“Yes, him. He’s in my English class, and I’ve been crushing on him since September,” she confessed.
“Then why did you hook up with Daniel?” Carmella frowned.
“To get closer to him, which didn’t work, and to distract myself, which was quite stupid,” she sighed.
“Don’t worry, you’ll get Eric’s attention. If you don’t, consider him a jerk,” Madison said.
“Who’s a jerk?” James interrupted.
“No one was talking to you,” I snapped.
“Always feisty, huh?” he chuckled. “The one and only Jordan, who’s hot, by the way.” He winked.
“Aren’t you dating Chloe?” Carmella frowned.
“Those are just rumors; she’s only good in bed,” he replied.
“Too much info, James. Now excuse us,” Madison pushed past him.
He grabbed my wrist as I walked by. “Daniel said he’ll pick you up at 7:30; here’s his number.” He handed me a piece of paper.
“Where is he?”
“Busy.”
Yeah, busy hooking up with other girls.
“Are you jealous, Jordan?” James smirked.
“Me, jealous? Please, have you seen me?” I scoffed.
“Yes, every day. You're way hotter than his hookups anyway,” James grinned.
“Come on, Jordan!”
“Bye, see you later.”

“This one looks perfect,” Joshua said, throwing a dress at me.
“You're my brother; don’t you think it’s a little too short?” I frowned.
“C’mon, Jordan, I’ve seen you wear shorter stuff to school.”
“That was a pair of short jeans, not a dress.”
“You’re supposed to be happy, not argue about my brotherly role. I’m not like other brothers who make their sisters’ lives miserable.”
“Fine, but do you still want to come?”
“Hell yeah, it’s been a while since I went to a high school party,” he grinned.
“Well, my ride will be here soon; the address is on the dining table.” I started putting on my makeup.
My phone buzzed.
Jerk: I’m picking you up in ten minutes.
Me: No problem.
“Well, I’m going to shower. See you at the party, sis,” Joshua said, grabbing his towel.
“Yeah, whatever,” I replied, applying my lipstick.
“Wow, you look totally hot,” Daniel said when he saw me.
“Hotter than your hookup from this morning?”
“100% sure,” he nodded. “Now put on your seatbelt,” he ordered.
I buckled up as we drove off. “So tell me about yourself,” I said.
“I have a 14-year-old sister and an older brother in the army,” he said. “What about you?”
“I have an older brother, just two years older, and I’ve always wanted a sister.”
“Yeah, Addison too.”
“Addison?”
“My sister. She’s always wanted a sister since she has two older brothers,” he explained.
“So when did you and Harper date?”
“Back in eighth grade and part of ninth,” he replied.
“Then why did you break up?”
“She dumped me. No hard feelings, really,” he shrugged.
“Did you date her for popularity?”
“Not really. We went to the same grade school and hung out together, but she definitely did,” he sighed.
