Chapter Eleven For a second, the world feels as if it is tilting on its axis. I grip the chair so tightly that my fingers go numb from the pressure. “What?” I say but my voice sounds very far away. “Her daughter. How old would she be now? I only ever saw her once. It was one of the first times that Spencer came in here. I remember thinking how she didn’t look like a happy mother at all. She looked sickly. I offered her some tea but she refused.
