“What superpowers…” Taylor said slowly, feeling in a complete daze, though his heart was racing. He blinked, shook his head to try to rid it of the sudden sluggishness that had overtaken him. He blamed it on a combination of tiredness, confusion, disbelief, and excitement. This situation was like the result of his previous life in the army and his hobbies of comic books and movies being thrown into a blender together—maybe with a bottle of vodka for good measure. A military/superhero mashup. Except this was no fiction.
