Lily gasped for breath as a pissed off Baran loomed over her. His hand was at her throat, not squeezing it—yet—but definitely keeping a tight grip while he used his weight to hold her down. Her head sank deeply down into the pillow from the pressure, her heart drummed in her ears. She couldn’t blame him, not really. He’d gotten mixed up in something he wasn’t a part of.
