The table goes silent. Mr. Levrinne’s eyes bore onto me. I ready myself and loosen the tightness of my jaw for a possible blow from him. However, no punch came.
“I never saw you with my daughter, and now you’re telling me you want to marry her?” He drops his utensils and rests his elbows on the table. His fingers intertwine as he focuses his eyes on me.
“Dad—”
“Sir, I am more than willing to show and prove that I won’t hurt your daughter.”
I do not want Ari defending me on this. She was the one who initiated and ask for this favor, but as someone who agreed to this, it is part of my responsibility to show myself in front of her parents.
