Chapter 9

1313 Words
(Owen POV) “Pick up dammit!” I shouted at the ringing phone. The people around me were staring but I didn’t care. I looked at the ICCU as tears filled my eyes. I need her. I need her to support me now. It’s being 3 days and she hasn’t responded to my call or text. I quickly made stood up as the doctor exited the room. “How is she?” I asked but he gave me a look of pity. “She is not responding to the medicines. Her condition is worsening with each second.” The doctor said as I let out a sob. “Owen… I told you to prepare your mind for this. I told you need to be strong for her.” He said as he put his hand on my shoulder. “How long doctor?” I murmured feeling all my power drain. “A month to the max. But it could be anytime. The cancer has already affected her vital parts” he said as I nodded trying my best not to cry. After the doctor gave another round of encouraging words I was once again left alone. I slid down the wall and brought my knees to my chest. She was alright till yesterday. I just went out to buy some dinner for us. When I came back the doctors and nurses where running in and out of her room. She was immediately shifted to the ICCU. Turns out the time we expected is wrong. Alexia on the other hand… I don’t know where she is or what happened to her. She has being missing since she ran out of the room. I tried calling and it just goes directly to voice mail. I have sent her millions of text but no response. I even called her house. They picked the call but they said she is busy and ended the call. I hadn’t expected much of a response from them, since they hate me, but it was worth a try. But I want her. I want her in my arms. I want her to be by me. I don’t know what to do. If she was here…. If she could just hold me… Talk to me... I would have felt a bit better. But I’m alone now. No one to comfort me… Tell me it’s going to be alright. I’m alone and desperate. (Owen POV) “Owen. Wake up. Owen” A voice came making me smile. “Alexia?” I murmured opening my eyes. She smiled at me and sat next to me. I hugged her and cried. “Mother… She…” I tried to form my words but I couldn’t. “I know. And I’m sorry I couldn’t be here sooner” she said as she wiped my tears. She kissed my forehead, her lips lingering a little longer. She started humming a song as I lay on her shoulder. But somehow the position was a bit uncomfortable. Ignoring the feel I closed my eyes as she hummed a song. Time passes by and I felt my heart calm down by her smooth humming. “Owen?” she called as I hummed. “Owen!” she called again and this time I answered with a yes. “Owen!” she repeated but this time her voice was a little deeper. “Owen. Wake up!” a completely different voice filled my ears making me snap and sit up. I looked around wide eyes. My eyes landed on a figure in white coat. “Owen.” The voice said as my eyes made contact with the doctor’s grey eyes. “Doctor?” I said confused as I looked at my left. Alexia is not here. It’s just a network of chairs. It’s a dream… “Owen. Go and eat something” the doctor said as I sighed and stood up. “How is she” I asked dusting my pant. “Still the same” he said. “You should go and eat. She will be better if she know you are eating healthy” he said. “OK.” I said as I dragged myself to the exit. The hospital corridor was deserted and only a few lights were lit, most of them flickering. I start my bike and sped down the empty road. I need to see her. Right now. I don’t care about anything else. I don’t care that its midnight. I don’t care about the f*****g guards. I. Need. To. See. Her. Reaching her gate as expected the guards refused to let me past. I shouted at them but still they refused. I need to find another way. The forest was out of option since it takes a lot of time and I still don’t know if ill reach her house. I went to the other side and examined the wall. Why the hell do they have such a huge wall! I need a ladder. If you think that I am not mad enough to go all the way to a 24 hour store and buy a ladder, then you are wrong. That is exactly what I did. I brought a ladder but it’s still not high enough to reach the top of the wall. But if I jump I will be able to reach the other end. I climbed the huge ladder and took a deep breath. “3...2...1...jump!” I counted before I jumped. Today is defiantly my lucky day since I could successfully reach the top. Yea. I’m sure I have a bruise in my elbow and leg and yea I might have cracked my shoulder blade but I still succeeded. I jumped to the other end and quickly hid behind a tree when I saw two people walk by. I quickly made my way to the direction of her house. The houses around were now dark indicating that they were sleeping. I snuck past some more guards but I couldn’t brush off the weird smelling thing they do. Some of them pause and sniffed the air as though they were some dog. If you’re wondering what this place is. Let me tell you. It’s a secluded area filled with rich asses that live in a single boundary as family. They don’t interfere in any matters outside these walls unless it is necessary. People who live here are considered rich and they only care about the people inside these walls. The school that Alexia goes to is the school only afforded by the families here. There is not even a single outsider in that school. I mentally danced as I reached her house. Her house is the biggest. Her father is said to be like the town’s mayor. At least that’s what I think. I quietly rounded the house and reached the back of the house. I suddenly paused as I saw Alexia at the other end, talking to a group of people. Anger filled me as I saw her. She has being ignoring my calls and text to talk and flirt with other boys in her area? I started to walk towards her but froze suddenly as I saw her grab the collar of one of the boy and growled. “What do you mean another child is found dead in the forest!” she shouted as my heart beat fast. Child? Dead? “Come on!” she shouted as she ran to the forest with the people right behind her.
