Reckless

Chapter 2

"Katherine?" I raised my eyebrow when I heard Gio's voice.

He slowly opened the door and looked at me with his serious face. His eyes showed that he's tired, but he still managed to stop by our house. I feel sorry.

"I'm sorry I had a bad day," I said and hugged him.

He kissed me on my forehead and said, "I'm sorry too, I know how much you wanted for us to meet up."

It’s been two years, but nothing has happened to the both of us. I mean like s*x. You know, what couples usually do. He said he respects me and he said he'll wait until we get married.

Little did he know--I don’t even want to talk about it.

"Are you going to sleep here?" I asked.

"No, I'm sorry. Next time babawi ako promise. You know it’s really busy this week right?”

I nodded and said, "Ayos lang. I understand, Gio."

We didn't talk that much dahil wala din naman siyang kinekwento. I think he's too tired and he wanted to feel relaxed with me so I didn't bother to ask him or tell him bullshits.

The next day I went to the office earlier than I usually do. Sinalubong ako ni Dave, he explained the things that will be discuss on the meeting later. Tumango lang ako dahil naintindihan ko naman.

"Stupid!" I shouted when my employee spilled her coffee on my new carpet.

"I'm so sorry Ms. Valerio-"

"Gosh! Do you think your sorry will remove the stain on my new carpet? Do you know how much that cost?" Inis kong sabi.

Dave came inside and apologized to my employee who is now crying. Arte! If there’s someone that should be crying right now is me. That f*****g cost a lot than she thinks. I rolled my eyes as Dave walked towards me.

As much as I want to stop myself from being angry, I just can’t. I don’t know why I’m acting like this these days. Maybe I’m just too stressed and I really needed a break. He's used to my attitude. Aaminin ko hindi talaga maganda ang ugali ko pero It's already a part of me.

Nasan na ba kasi si ate? She should be the one who is taking care of the company yet she left me to do things alone while she’s having fun with her friends. I don’t even have a friend here in Manila. KInuha ko ang phone ko at nagsimulang mag type ng sasabihin.

Me: We need to talk. Can you come home tonight?

Danica: Oh! That's new! I'll be home tonight.

Hindi ko na siya nireplyan pa. As I've said, I’ll let her manage the company for the meantime after this week. I know she's not that good, but my secretary will guide her.

Magaling naman sana siya, but she's not giving her best and doesn't even make an effort in everything she does.

"If Ate Danica will agree then you know what to do okay?" I said to Sally.

That's my secretary's name. Maaga akong nakauwi dahil wala naman akong gagawin. Danica welcomed me with her playful smile while sitting at my couch. I don’t know why I’m so pissed off. Maybe it’s because I’ve been stressing myself and she’s just relaxing and having fun.

"So? Straight to the point. Spill it out, Sister." She sipped a bit in the glass of wine that she's holding.

"I want you to take over the company."

"HELL N-"

"For a month, Ate, Isang buwan lang ang hinihingi ko. You never even help me and I'm getting tired already. I want to take a break. If you still want to be rich as you are right now, then help me." I said.

All these years ako lang ang gumagawa ng paraan para mapalaki pa ang company namin. She doesn’t even bother to help me and she even asks for money every time we talk.

She's hired in our company, yet she's not doing her job. It means sineswelduhan ko siya kahit wala siyang ginagawa.

"Fine, but only for a month. You know me, Katherine. I don't know how to manage a company, but fine."

"Good. Don't worry Sally will help you, all you have to do is to listen to her and don't be stubborn."

Unknown ID calling...

"Hello?"

"Mommy! I miss you! When will you visit us?" Natawa ako bigla sa kanyang tono.

I walk out of the room since Danica might hear him. When she hears something, she would talk about it non stop and I’m afraid she’ll tell everyone.

"Brion! I'll be there next week. Wait for me okay? Mommy's busy, can I call you back tomorrow?"

"Yey! Of course! I miss you! See you!"

I was about to end the call, but he hung up first. I laughed a little and went to the bathroom to clean myself. He’s really a big boy now. He has too much energy. I wish I’m still a kid.

"Katherine!" Nagulat ako ng biglang bumukas ang pinto.

I immediately covered myself with a towel. Oh my God!

"Gio! Knock first for Pete's sake!"

"I-I'm sorry." Iniwas niya ang kanyang tingin.

"Go out. I'll follow once I finish." I let him wait outside my bathroom and do what I usually do.

What's with him? Bakit bigla bigla nalang siyang sumusugod sa kwarto ko? He's not usually like that. I mean he'll either text me or knock first. Lumabas ako at nakita ko siyang pinaglalaruan ang dalawa niyang kamay.

"Gio. What is it?"

"I heard you filed a leave. You didn't tell me."

Oh right. I made the decision recklessly that I forgot to tell him about it. I was just so tired of work. I want to take my vacation. I feel like I need it since my attitude is getting worse everyday.

"I'm sorry. Alam mo naman na I need to at least have a leave once a year, ‘diba?”

Tumango ito sa akin.

"Then I'll come with y-"

"What? I mean no! I want time alone, Gio. I'll be back, don't worry. The company needs you also, we can’t both leave." I clinged both of arms on his shoulders.
